You are invited to view the Christmas story told in the tradition of a Putz. A Putz (meaning to arrange, decorate . . . . in German) is a display of nativity scenes . . .each sequential scene showing part of the story of the birth of Jesus. The entire story is told in a darkened room with each scene illuminated as it occurs in the narrative. The taped narrative takes about 25 minutes. Scenes are made up of figurines, moss, stones, shells and cloth.
Our Putz includes scenes of Isaiah’s prophesy, the annunciation, Joseph’s dream, the shepherds in the field receiving the good news, angels and the heavenly host, the wisemen and their camels, King Herod and his palace, the manger with baby Jesus, Joseph and Mary, the flight to Egypt and the Christmas star.
While the nativity story remains the same year after year, the scenes are annually rebuilt in different locations with different lighting effects.
Following the presentation in room 117 (first room on the left) at the Holly Street entrance to Christ United Methodist Church, 700 S. Marshall Road, Middletown, Ohio, you are invited to enjoy refreshments. Showings will be about every 30 minutes 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. weekdays, Monday through Monday, Dec. 15th through Dec. 23rd.
