SUMMER 2020 TRAVELS! Another great Caribbean destination this summer was St Lucia! The Piton Mountains make for the perfect landscape for hikes and boat cruises, not to mention the incredible wildlife and rare plants making for some instagram-worthy shot! Travelers can’t miss out on chocolate tours and chocolate making classes as well as other food and rum tours! A perfect place to lounge at the beach or cruise around on a boat or even try your hand at scuba diving along some of the many coral reefs!

SUMMER 2020 TRAVELS! Another spot we went to this summer was Puerto Rico. Beaches this summer are near empty making it the perfect place for social distancing! So much history and crystal clear waters perfect for snorkeling and swimming! No passport is needed so it’s a great close-but-not-too close destination for the family!

SUMMER 2020 TRAVELS! 2020 has been a wild ride but that hasn’t stopped us from traveling! This summer we’ve seen clients go to so many incredible places including overlooking the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. The property has beautiful cottages and suites as well as a working farm with great restaurants and wines onsite!

One origin story of the Mojito is that farmers in Cuba would add just about anything to try to make their awful rum taste better, which included the lime, sugar cane juice and mint. Fast forward to Prohibition and Havanas popular cocktail lounges, the Mojito migrated from the farms into the bars.

Fresh Mint Leaves (6-7)
Crushed ice
1.5 oz Rum
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
Club Soda to fill the glass

Muddle the mint in the bottom of a glass. Fill the glass with crushed ice, then add the lime juice and fill the glass with club soda and stir. Garnish with a mint sprig.

The Pegu Club is named for the bar it was invented in, which was built in Rangoon, Burma (now Yangon, Myanmar) in 1880. The bar created the drink with the intention of being a refreshing signature drink to specifically serve the British Army passing through. The drink is rarely drank in present-day Myanmar, however the drink has gained popularity in other parts of the world since!

1-1/2 oz Gin
1 Teaspoon Lime juice
3/4 oz Orange curaçao
Dash Bitters
Dash Orange bitters

If you’re looking for a refreshing drink for a hot summer day, look no further than the Italian Aperol Spritz! Aperol originated in Italy back in 1919 by Barbiri brothers who were looking to jump in on the pre-dinner drink fad. Their original recipe is said to have not changed to this day (including many ingredients such as orange zest, vanilla, rhubarb, chinchona, genziana). It wasn’t until the last 30 or so years that the "spritzing" became so popular. Shortly after Campari acquired Aperol, a new marketing campaign launched the drink to its current success. In the early 2000's, the drink took off and is now one of the most popular drinks in Italy!

3 oz chilled Prosecco
2 oz Aperol
1 oz Club Soda or Blood Orange Soda
Ice
Sliced orange, for garnish

Fill a glass with ice. Add prosecco, aperol and soda. Stir gently to combine and garnish with a slice of orange.

What better than a Dark & Stormy to kick off hurricane season? The Dark & Stormy originates back to Bermuda after WWI. Sailors in a ginger beer factory wanted to spice up their ginger beer with the local Goslings Black Seal rum. One sailor stated that the color of the drink was that of a cloud only a fool or a dead man would sail under, which inspired the name Dark & Stormy. Later, Goslings trademarked the name. Be sure to make your drink with Bermuda’s own Goslings Rum for the authentic cocktail!

2oz Dark Rum
3oz Ginger Beer
1/2 oz Lime Juice

Fill tall glass with ice cubes, add rum. Pour in ginger beer and lime juice and stir. Garnish with a lime wedge & enjoy
