The studio apartment was built in 2018 as the owners' personal space (non-rentable). You can swim safely in the cove, fish from the dock or the Point, or boat/kayak just out from the house to the old river channel, or boat around to the north to the Chicken Coop crappie fishing area or to the south to great bass fishing. We're five minutes away from putting your boat in at Holly Park to fish that area of the lake, and about 20 minutes to the new park at the TX/LA line on west side of Pendleton Bridge. If you don't fish, just sit on the balcony and watch the wildlife come by! There's something for everyone! The best way to know if it's right for you -- RENT IT for the weekend! Tom and I were at Crappie House this past weekend continuing work on replacing the dock house boards. When I made a stop at Holly Park Marina, I snapped a few photos of the recent tornado damage there. Several trailers, the boat house and the fishing pavilion were damaged, but thankfully no one was hurt. This is only a mile or so as the crow flies from Crappie House. We were very fortunate to not be hit. Our neighbor's deckhouse was nearly demolished by the wave action in an earlier storm. We lost the entrance to the dock house, which prompted the board replacement.

Saturday we celebrated National Hunting and Fishing Day! Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) honors hunters and anglers, for your help conserving Texas' wildlife and wild places. You help fund Texas' wildlife management programs through the purchase of hunting and fishing licenses and stamps, as well as through taxes paid on hunting and fishing equipment, fi****ms and ammunition. This generates millions of dollars for conservation programs that benefit both game and non-game species statewide.

In 2021, TPWD launched the Texas plan for recruitment, retention and reactivation (R3) that aims to connect more people with the outdoors and each other through hunting, fishing, boating and shooting sports.

We invite you to work alongside us in this effort. Bring someone new hunting and fishing with you. Show them how life's better outside.
