Did you know, a study found that most Americans replace their decor every three years! (Some wait 7-15 years, though!) On average, we spend about two seconds glancing at wall art.

If you look at your artwork every day for three years, you'll spend almost an entire workweek (37 hours!) admiring it!

Art impacts our mood, completes our space, and gives us time to reflect.

It's International Literacy Day! But what does that have to do with art?

Some of the best libraries in the world, like the New York Public Library or the Abbey Library of St. Gall in Switzerland, surround their readers with art. ✨

From gilded, painted ceilings to celestial murals and stuccoed cherubs – what makes these libraries special is art!

A lot of us have personal libraries, but what about your art collection? To make your reading space truly special, support independent artists and create a book nook like no other!

Featuring a very special piece called "Bull Moose Laying Down."

I just love it when I can approach an animal (in this case a Moose) without spooking him into a fast retreat! My friend Jim Boutin and I were successful this day in doing just that. This bull, although quite aware of our presence (for sure) tolerated our movements in the forest, even though I thought we were still quite noisy (millions of dried Oak leaves on the forest floor). Getting close enough without disturbing him is remarkably rewarding! Still, keep in mind that this image was taken with a long telephoto lens, even though it appears to be very close. I respect my subjects tremendously and take it as a failure when the animal reacts and walks/runs away.

Today is the final day that 20% of all online purchases will be donated to Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument in their mission to support visitation at KWWNM!

Celebrate with us this summer as the Tekαkαpimək Contact Station comes to life in Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. Imbued with Wabanaki artistry and knowledge, Tekαkαpimək will provide the global public with a deeply meaningful introduction to this landscape we all cherish. Unlike any welcome center in our national parks system, the building and natural landscape atop Lookout Mountain will invite the public to experience and learn through the lens of a Wabanaki worldview. Tekαkαpimək translates from the Penobscot language to “as far as one can see” and is pronounced de gah-gah bee mook.
