I never thought I would see the day of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana having a higher combined snowpack in late January than the majority of us here in Maine...

Brrrrrrrrr….. it’s cold out there! 🥶

The Golden Road is a historic private road built by the Great Northern Paper Company between 1969 and 1972. It stretches approximately 96 miles from Millinocket to the St. Zacharie Border Crossing with Quebec, Canada. This road was constructed primarily to transport raw wood from the company's vast woodland holdings to its mill in Millinocket, replacing the earlier practice of floating logs down the Penobscot River.

You know winter has officially arrived in the Katahdin region when snowmobiles start to outnumber cars in the parking lot at lunchtime. What a welcome sight! Stop by Knife Edge Brewing for great beer, pizza and music tonight by Adam Ouellette and Company from 6-9PM!

That’s a LOT of work! Help if you can. If you can’t please send donations. Every little bit helps.
