This UNESCO World Heritage site is situated in the Samaria National Park in the White Mountains and includes an almost 9-mile path. Temple of Poseidon
With 16 of its original 38 columns still standing, the Temple of Poseidon is an interesting historical site to visit. Poseidon is an important figure in Greek mythology as he is said to only be second to Zeus and was the god of the sea. This is where sailors would go to leave gifts and sacrifices so that they would not suffer the wrath of Poseidon with storms and shipwrecks.

The original site housed a sanctuary of Zeus with temples, treasuries, the house of Nero built for his stay while he participated in the games, and the stadium for the games. Temple of Zeus
The Temple of Zeus that was originally designed to honor Zeus, the king of gods and men to ancient Greeks, took over 600 years to build and was completed under Roman emperor Hadrian in 132AD. Twice the size of the Parthenon, this temple is the largest in history with its 5000 square meters of floor, 104 Corinthian columns standing 15 meters high, and Hadrian’s Arch that was 18 meters high at the northeastern corner to represent an entryway to the temple. Today you can visit the temple and 15 of the remaining columns.

Acropolis Parthenon
The Acropolis in Greece, set upon a rocky hill is easily one of the most visited historical sites in the world. And in that citadel sits the famous Parthenon. Its ingenious architecture of a perfect rectangle with precise cuts in marble and their strategic placement as well as columns that just slightly close inward which limits rainwater and creates a seismic reinforcement. Pictures don’t even do this marvel justice compared to seeing it in person.
