Whewww.... We have always heard that the bite in the spring time down in the marsh of louisiana was tough..

But, we got a call from Capt Brad down at fishmasters with a little different report.

Let me tell ya, this crew from Southern Pipe & Supply put it on em. It rained, it thunderstormed, the conditions were not by any means optimum but boy did they score.

The redfishing was hot as we have ever seen it this year and we are beyond grateful for the guides over at fishmasters who absolutely put us on the fish.

The trip that shouldn’t have happened.

But….

Lauren got cleared from her doc and on January 21st we flew into a snow globe and hit the ground running.

We had ski passes, a jeep, cameras, drones and empty memory cards. We were out to see what the number one resort in America was all about.

What we found was that it felt like going back in time, in the best way possible. Like time almost slowed down. We never found a bumping après scene or a multitude of shops you may be used to in most crowded ski towns.

We enjoyed lamb on the grill and red wine in the hot tub instead!

Eden is a laid back, Western mountain town with no stop light, three coffee shops, zero bars, maybe three restaurants and one local village grocery store.

Deer and turkeys roam the streets and neighborhoods more than people. Your mail even has to be picked up at the post office in the town. The girls there knew us by name pretty quickly!

There is no doubt that nature is medicine, but the fresh mountain air combined with a town like this with little to zero distractions was just what the doctor ordered.

Hope you get to experience it.

We don’t think there are many places left like this!

Why do we eagerly anticipate that precious one to two weeks of vacation each year? It consumes our daydreams at work, dominates dinner table conversations, and prompts year-round budgeting.

But why?

To escape?

From what?

And who are we during that time?

Why do we crave it so intensely?

The truth is...

We need it. We yearn to flee the noise and pressures of life, to disconnect. Travel offers a mental reset, reducing overall stress and anxiety while fostering better relationships and clarity.

Lauren & Nathan facilitate these escapes daily, providing individuals with spaces to connect, indulge, and find solace.

Now, we’re embarking on the next chapter: crafting unforgettable vacation experiences that rejuvenate the spirit, inspire exploration, and remind us of the beauty and joy that await beyond the routine of everyday life.

The road to our winter season sure has been a winding one.

After a last minute invite to Gordon Pierce, a videographer in Pensacola, I was pumped that he accepted to help collect content and take full advantage of the powder turns that were in our forecast for the last few weeks of January.

He flew in just as the storm was hitting and waited for Lauren and I to make it in. Nevertheless, we both scored.

Big thanks to Gordon! He’s super talented and we can’t wait to see what he captured. 📸

We have exciting news.

Yesterday, Lauren had an appointment with Dr. Hulick at Gulf Orthopedics to evaluate where she is in her recovery process.

What we learned is that she is luckier than we ever imagined.

Dr. Hulick said she is healing faster than expected and has cleared her to fly and do all the normal day-to-day activities she is accustomed to, as long as she is listening to her body and managing pain. Not only that, but he also mentioned that there is a strong possibility that her body will be ready to ski before the end of the season!

This was the best news we could have possibly received.

So, what does that mean for us?

As you all know, when you book lodging, it is very rare that you will be refunded.

Now that we have a beautiful empty house overlooking the Wasatch Mountain range this month, we are excited to book plane tickets and make the most out of our winter.

We have had to postpone our groups until next season, but we will head up to break out the camera and explore a little more of Eden, Utah, make relationships with vendors, try new restaurants, and really prepare a great experience for our guests in 2025.

So!

We are going to scramble for some last-minute flights and head on up to Utah this Sunday!”

Welll…

Vacation Outfitters has had a few bumps in the road over the past few weeks.

Some of you may be aware that Lauren had a horseback riding accident on New Year’s Eve, resulting in a fractured pelvis and a trip to the ER. This incident has presented both positive and negative developments that we’d like to share.

The good news is that Lauren is doing remarkably well and is ahead of schedule in her recovery. Additionally, she received some new jewelry on her left hand just before Christmas!

Unfortunately, the Bad news.. Our Powder Mountain winter experiences have been postponed until 2024.

Despite the setback, Lauren is up and walking. With a positive report from her doctor last week, she is in physical therapy twice a week. We have another follow-up with doctors this Thursday, which will determine our path through February.

Thank you all for following our story and we look forward to the good times ahead.
