Day 2 of member visits in SW Minnesota. Today, Barbara Landeen and Jessica Lacher visited members at Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs home in Luverne, Parkview Manor in Ellsworth, and Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan. Great conversations!

Two of our staff, Barbara Landeen and Jessica Lacher, took to the road to visit a few of our members in Southwestern Minnesota today. And they even stopped in "Gnometown" to see Gnome Park! We loved visiting three of our members:

We enjoyed co-hosting another Candidate Forum yesterday at Shorewood Landing - Presbyterian Homes & Services. Special thanks to the team at Shorewood Landing, and our very own Erin Huppert for moderating the discussion.

In attendance were candidates seeking election in the Minnesota House of Representatives Districts 45A and B, and also both candidates running for the Minnesota Senate in Senate District 45.

Candidates were asked how they would prioritize Minnesota's aging population - including seniors and the hardworking caregivers who provide essential care to older adults across our state.

Yesterday, we co-hosted another Candidate Forum, this time in Winona. Benedictine Living Community-Winona put on a great event, giving candidates running for office an opportunity to talk with residents and community members about how they would prioritize older adults if elected.

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with LeadingAge Minnesota to host a candidate forum for Minnesota State House districts 26A and 26B. The forum is happening on Wednesday, September 4th from 2pm - 4pm.

Candidates who will be in attendance include Aaron Repinski (R - 26A), Sarah Kruger (D - 26A), and Allie Wolf (D - 26B). We encourage the public to attend!

Also, please be aware of the Broadway Street project construction. To come to our campus, you need to enter through Lee Street and turn right onto Broadway. You can then enter through our middle driveway/entrance. Please look for street signs pointing you in the right direction. You can also refer to the map in the comments section.

Our Candidate Forum in Duluth, in partnership with Viewcrest Health Center, was a huge success! Candidates running for the Minnesota House of Representatives in Districts 8A, 8B, and 3B were in attendance. Each was given a platform to discuss issues affecting older adults and Minnesota's wider aging services sector.

Senator Amy Klobuchar yesterday visited PioneerCare Daycare in Fergus Falls. PioneerKids is a daycare on the site of PioneerCare, providing accessible childcare for the employees of the facility while they work.

Regarding PioneerKids model, Senator Klobuchar said, “The concept in general, of trying to build and share facilities, share things, even if it’s not solo daycare, I think is a really good idea. Because the employees can actually go back and forth between the two sides if there’s a need. It’s just more practical. It’s kind of building scale with two different populations.”
