A complaint filed Tuesday in federal court argues Minnesota officials are punishing nursing homes by imposing costly workforce standards on them while simultaneously preventing them from raising rates to cover the costs.

Challenge moves a year-long dispute over the legitimacy of the state’s nursing home standards board into federal court.

This National Rural Health Day, the LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation is thrilled to announce a new $1.8 million investment to support the health and well-being of seniors in rural Minnesota! 💙

Through the Connected Communities Project, we’re empowering three new dedicated member-provider organizations to lead their communities in building strong, supportive and interconnected services for seniors, enabling them to enjoy a vibrant, fulfilling life and help them age in place with greater well-being.

🏡 Guardian Angels Senior Living – Elk River
🏡 Bethesda – Willmar
🏡 St. John’s Lutheran Community – Albert Lea

These three communities join work already underway in Perham, led by Perham Health, and Alexandria, led by Vivie. LeadingAge Minnesota previously provided close to $1 million dollars in funding for those sites to lead Connected Communities Projects.

This game-changing investment will create lasting impact, fostering innovation and strengthening communities to better serve older adults across Minnesota. Together, we’re building stronger, more connected lives for our seniors. 💪💡

We've enjoyed seeing Minnesota members who are here in Nashville, and we look forward to our MN Night gathering tonight! ⭐

Earlier this year, a delegation of providers from LeadingAge Minnesota traveled to Nairobi, Kenya to attend the opening of a new National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) training center. The aim of this trip was to establish pathways for international recruitment help tackle the workforce shortage in the aging services field.

This partnership will support our care systems while providing life-changing opportunities for Kenyan nurses to grow and thrive abroad. 🌍💉
