As the owner of MAYER, I'm taking my 40 year career in events production and applying it to exciting and interesting cultural experiences in cities across America. First up:

BEYOND THE NEON: Experiencing Las Vegas Off the Strip

A 3-Day Cultural Adventure November 12-15, 3022

You wouldn’t go to New York and only see Times Square, so why would you go to Las Vegas and only see the Strip? Las Veg

as has amazing 1950-80s architecture and a history that you will experience by exclusive created-just-for-you tours of neighborhoods rich with mid-century homes and commercial buildings. You’ll see where some of our biggest names in organized crime, business and show business resided, and you’ll see the exteriors and interiors of homes meticulously restored to their 50s and 60s origins. These amazing tours will be paired with food stops many locals don’t even know about. Your guide for the tours will be Richard Ho**er, the pre-eminent expert on Las Vegas culture. He was formerly the Urban Arts Coordinator for the City of Las Vegas and worked directly on landmark projects including the Neon Museum, the 18b Arts District, the Cultural Corridor, the Las Vegas Scenic Byway, and the Las Vegas Book Festival. He has been instrumental in establishing the Paradise Palms neighborhood of Las Vegas as its first neighborhood to be designated historical. The cost for this experience is $599 per person (based on hotel double occupancy) and includes:

- Three night stay (Saturday, November 12 -15 at Treasure Island Resort, the first upscale resort on the Las Vegas strip
- Saturday night welcome dinner and mixer

- Three private, exclusive guided vehicle and walking tours of two Las Vegas neighborhoods and commercial sectors showcasing the best of mid-century architecture

Sarasota is known as the Jewel Box of Florida for good reason. Beautiful sunsets, beaches, and gardens combined with fantastic cultural assets make it a perfect destination for a winter get-away.

Come along on a tour from MSP February 6 – 9 that includes premium tickets to former Theater Latte Da Artistic Director Peter Rothstein’s world premiere of Lady Molly of Scotland Yard.

You’ll enjoy a backstage tour of the famed Asolo Theatre, a sunset dinner cruise, and exclusive guided tour of Selby Botanical Gardens. To check out all the details, visit www.mayertravel.com/sarasota!

A question I get asked a lot: Where is the 'best' Doors Open Minneapolis venue this year? Of course it's subjective, but a new venue that is incredibly fascinating because of its shear size and unique quotient is the Minnesota Library Access Center. Sounds boring? Yes. Is it? Definitely not. Check it out this weekend!

no.3 is a wrap and it was super fun! It was all things Liberace, visiting a home built completely underground, seeing my pal Andy Marlett demonstrate his horsing skills, visiting a home filled with 200 show boy / show girl costumes, and dining at the Italian American Social Club + ShangHai Taste + 85C and lots lots more.

But the best part was hanging with old and new friends Jane Petty, John Christiansen, Murray Thomas, Steve Davis, Sue Surma, Lindsey Kayeaupeapea, Joe Andrews, Scott Benson, Bill Collins, Paul McConnell, John Flannagan, Shawn Gensch, Scott Steen, Nancy Flagg, Neil J Cosgrove, Jeffery Alspaugh, Omar Guevara and his mother Barbra, Ann Bauer, John Gately, Craig R. Anderson, Rob Dingmann, Paul Kaminski, Rich Bonnin, John B Sweet, Erik Brendtro, Larry Sonsthagen and the hubby with the mostest John Zeches!
