🚩 As summer approaches and beach days arrive, we wanted to remind you of the importance of our beach flags here on the Emerald Coast. These colorful flags serve as vital indicators of water conditions, ensuring your safety and enjoyment along the shores of the Florida Panhandle.

When visiting the Emerald Coast, you can 🚨 text ‘SAFETY’ to 31279 for current Gulf conditions.🚨

🟩 Green Flag: This flag signifies calm conditions, with low hazard levels. It’s the perfect time for swimming, sunbathing, and beach activities. Enjoy the waters, but always remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings.

🟨 Yellow Flag: A yellow flag advises caution. Moderate surf or currents may be present, making swimming a bit more challenging. Exercise extra care and only enter the water if you’re a confident swimmer. Keep a close eye on children and never swim alone.

🟥 Red Flag: When the red flag flies, it’s a clear warning of high hazards. Strong currents and rough surf are present. Swimming is not recommended, and wading should be done with extreme caution.

🟥🟥 Double Red Flag: This flag indicates water conditions are extremely hazardous. Entering the water and swimming is prohibited. Stay out of the water entirely and avoid the shoreline. Your safety is important, so respect all beach closures and warnings.

🟪 Purple Flag: Warns of potentially dangerous marine life in the area. This could include jellyfish, stingrays, or other hazardous creatures. Be cautious when entering the water and pay attention to any additional warnings from lifeguards or signage.
