Heyoooo!! TWO. MORE. SLEEPS!!! That’s right!! Sea Turtle nesting season begins in the panhandle Wednesday, May 1!!🐢🥳

You may have heard they are already making their way onto our beaches as our neighboring counties have already had some nesting action!! Wooo!

This means we need to make sure we are doing our part by keeping our beaches 🫡

👣 Take all your trash and belongings with you at the end of the day. Leave nothing but your footprints behind.

🚫💡Do not use white lights on the beach and turn off all beachfront lighting. If you are on the beach after dark, be sure to use turtle safe lighting♥️.

🚫🏰 Knock down all sand art and FILL ALL HOLES!!! Holes are dangerous for both sea turtles and humans!!

We are looking forward to a GREAT season knowing we have YOUR 🫵 help and support for our nesting sea turtles and their babies to be successful and safe!! 🫶 It takes a village and we need you!!

South Walton Fire District Beach Safety Season 2024 News:
Lifeguards staff 15 towers across the 26 miles of South Walton’s beaches, which stretch from Inlet Beach to Miramar Beach. These surf rescue professionals respond to emergencies on the beach, as well as within proximity to the beach such as County Highway 30A and Scenic Gulf Drive.

Lifeguard towers are staffed 10am - 6pm each day from now until October 31.

WCSO INVESTIGATING VEHICLE BURGLARY ON BAYTOWNE CIRCLE EAST IN MIRAMAR BEACH

At approximately 2:30 am Thursday, Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle burglary in progress on Baytowne Circle East.

The suspect is described as a white male with salt and pepper hair, approximately 6'0, wearing all black with black gloves. The suspect told the homeowner who confronted him that he was armed.

Walton Correctional K-9 Teams responded and attempted to track the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

If you see any suspicious activity or you know who this person is, please call us at (850)-892-8111. We are also asking homeowners in the area with cameras to check and see if they capture any footage that could be helpful in making an arrest. Residents should expect to see a heavy presence of law enforcement in the area as we continue to investigate.
