What are some activities you can do while staying at Angsana Corfu? Why.. explore the island! As hard as it was to leave our villa and explore, we knew there are so many fascinating places to discover that it would take many visits to see all! One day, we decided to explore Pelekas - a charming village in the central part of Corfu. The vibe is lively and filled with people enjoying the sandy beaches! The first stop should be Kaisers Throne where you get an incredible views of the island and sea. It’s perched in the mountain top and apparently watching the sunset is quite popular! The entrance is free and there is hotel with a restaurant right next door.
We were recommended to try the pizza at the Pink Panther in town. The views of the sea are incredible - but unfortunately pizza wasn’t served until 5:00 pm. I did have delicious dolmas and taziki!

Let’s talk about where to stay in Corfu! If you have some boxes to check like: private villa, private pool, special concierge, bespoke luxury, stunning views, private beach, special experiences, then the Angsana Corfu is for you! This is my second stay at this property and it gets better every time! The first stay was in an amazing 1 bedroom suite that overlooked the Ionian Sea. This trip has been taken up a notch with a 1-bedroom pool villa with sweeping views of the Ionian Sea. What sets the villas apart is the unparalleled amenities & service offered to villa guests. A few of the amenities include a dedicated breakfast restaurant where service is second to none, a private lounge area where villa guests have access to evening drinks & hors d’oeuvres.
The weather has been uncharacteristically hot & having the opportunity to take a private swim at any time is worth the upgrade!
The villa has a kitchenette & a chef can come & whip up a special Greek meal should it be desired. There is a nice dining table & comfy living room furniture that face the sea. The main floor also features an extra bath with shower. Our master bedroom suite is on the second level and includes a balcony to relax and gaze out at sea. The spa-like bathroom has an enclosed shower & tub which seems to be quite popular these days. The bathroom is such a relaxing retreat! I truly would like to remodel my home bath after my villa bath.
Another unique feature in the villa is the ability to hook my phone up to the Bluetooth & my music can be played throughout the rooms. Finally, there is a small fridge filled with complimentary Greek sodas like olive oil infused ginger beer, grapefruit soda, plenty of water and of course familiar sodas like coca-cola.
The whole experience is amazing 🤩 & absolutely worth a stay - even if you don’t have a villa.

Corfu has so much to see and the only way is to rent a car! It’s not as intimidating as you might think - unless of course you need to reverse uphill on a teeny tiny street with cars on either side because there isn’t room for an oncoming car to get by… white knuckles… but aside from that.. we love our little Fiat Cabrio convertible we rented from ! It’s a zippy way to explore from our hotel ! I used my reserve card to pay and I know I will be covered if the unfortunate happens.

Dinner at Emerald Beach, which is the private beach at Angsana Corfu, was epic! Deb had the catch of the day, red snapper, which she said was delicious - since I don’t eat meat or fish- I took her word! We closed the restaurant down at half past 11 pm because Spiros introduced us to a local craft beer that was delicious! Who could say no? 🍺

We loved our Windstar Cruise in French Polynesia and didn’t want to leave! Truly, the staff makes this cruise extra special. We had an emotional goodbye with entertainer extraordinaire, Pearl. Lovely Pearl has an incredible voice and can play the ukulele like no one else. She is such an asset to Windstar! Also, she was so gracious to have Izzy play with her in a few nights during the entertainment shows in the Compass Rose.

BUT we weren’t quite ready to leave and were excited to spend a couple more days in Moorea. We walked off the cruise and headed over to the ferry port and bought tickets to Moorea. The 35 minute ferry ride was easy and we found ourselves back in paradise! We had an incredible Airbnb right smack in Cooks Bay that easily accommodated the 8 of us. The views, warm water and Polynesian hospitality continued to embrace us! The Airbnb was walking distance to a shopping center, amazing pizza and the Manava Beach Resort & Spa where we enjoyed happy hour! I wouldn’t hesitate in return to this Airbnb!

Our cruise was coming to a close too quickly - our final day was spent on Huanine where we snorkeled over 2 different coral gardens and saw amazing and vibrant fish! The water was spectacular, the sun was shining and it was all so perfect! We had a Polynesian lunch on a private island, and sat at a picnic table that was placed in the water where little fish swam around us. We capped the afternoon by learning traditional Polynesian dances. It was fun to watch my dad and Isaac learn the dances.. . They had moves like Jagger! lol..
Once back on the ship, we enjoyed a fabulous meal together and ended the evening back in Compass Rose where we danced until it closed!

More of Bora Bora! And more snorkeling! And more of Aperol Spritz! lol - I mean Aperol Spritz and Bora Bora kind of go hand in hand! I was able to get my dad snorkeling in Bora Bora - not bad for a guy who is 84 years old and has had part of his lung removed. We had so much fun. Fire show to cap an evening on a private island made everything even more exciting! To cap the evening was a full moon over Bora Bora!
Windstar is the bomb! 💥 They have amazing excursions and even more amazing special events specifically for their guests!

Wow! This is great news that airlines will be held accountable for leaving you stranded or even delayed! And that lost luggage?? Well the airlines will be required to step up to the plate and make it right. This can’t come soon enough!

🌈💕Bora Bora has my heart! 🌈💕 The sailing just keeps getting better and better. Days 5 & 6 had us docked in Bora Bora and everything was amazing! The weather, the water, the excursions.. Deb, Izzy, & Isaac went fishing with Nikki & Tony on the first day. My dad, Marcia and I went swimming with sharks and stingrays. Fortunately, the sharks are black tip reef sharks or I wouldn’t have even considered getting in the water! They pretty much just swim side by side with the stingrays looking for small pieces of food… not humans. 😅it’s definitely a memorable excursion.
The second day we went on an Eco snorkeling tour and we saw 1 manta ray sleeping on the bottom of the ocean floor pretty much covered in sand, several eagle rays and a lot of sting rays! Spinner dolphins played by the side of our boat to add more excitement!

Nightly Windstar shenanigans! Every night after a full day of fun-in-sun activities during our Tahiti cruise, everyone comes back together for dinner and nightly after-dinner cocktails in the Compass Rose. Compass Rose is the nightly hub with the ship band playing favorite songs while guests dance the night away. Sometimes it’s a theme night like Beatle Mania or just top hits. The band is really well put together and know how to jam and get the crowd going. Several nights, Izzy was invited to join them with her violin/fiddle playing. One night, Isaac showed off his amazing pipes to a standing ovation by the crowd. We will definitely miss these fun nights where we danced and laughed for hours each night.

Day 4 - Motu Mahaea (Taha’a)- Windstar always kicks each cruise up a notch with special events. The Tahiti cruise features a special day on a private island just for Windstar guests - all included in the price. This private island day features an outstanding BBQ, full bar, kayaks, paddle boards, amazing snorkeling and just relaxing in the warm, clear water. It’s a chill day where guests are pampered and essentially forced to relax.

As we were exploring Raiatea, we found pay-phones around town! My son said, “Look! An artifact from your generation!” 😭 our kids wouldn’t know how to make a call on this ‘artifact’ .I said at least it’s push buttons and not a dial!
At this point, I only have a few numbers memorized.. I wouldn’t know who to call!

And we set sail! has a signature flag raising ceremony at the beginning of every cruise. It’s a wonderful way to start the journey. Deb was asked to join the action when we came out a nearby door and stood with the food & beverage manager, Anthony.

Tonight was Polynesian culture night at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort and we enjoyed a lively new show “Moea, the echo of the heart – Moea, te ‘ōpahi o te ‘ā’au”. We were treated to songs and dances highlighting what everyone wishes with all their soul, Love.
At one point they had female audience members come up to the stage - and Izzy was brought up to showcase some of her Polynesian dancing skills. 💕 Then Isaac was one of the males selected to come up and try out the male dancing. It was great seeing them both forced out of their comfort zone!
Tahiti! It never disappoints. The weather, the water, the people. The long flight is worth it once you step foot onto the island. Loving our stay at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa before our Windstar Cruises tomorrow!
🌟 With regards to social media, I am either ALL-IN or ALL-OUT. I am so behind for no particular reason. I guess life just happens and finding the time to post can seem exhausting! What is a fun activity while visiting Scottsdale? Hiking Camelback Mountain! I guess hiking is an understatement - it’s more like bouldering! 🪨 We made the trek this morning - borrowed bikes from our hotel at the JW Marriott and rode about 1 mile to the trailhead at 7:00 am to beat the heat and crowds. Even my old knees survived (barely!). Have you done this hike? It’s definitely worth experiencing.

🧳 If you remember, the airline lost 2 of our suitcases when we flew to India this past December. Delta left them at the S terminal and we could track them via Apple Air Tags I had placed inside. Many people have asked for a follow up because it seems I left you all hanging! To answer the pressing question - 6 days later after they travelled the world, our suitcases were delivered to our hotel in India!
First, I learned that when a suitcase is misplaced, the last airline flew is the one responsible. In our case that was Lufthansa as we flew them for our last leg to FRA even though our ticket was Delta - and Delta was the airline to not load them on our flight.
The bags eventually were put onto a Delta flight to NYC to CDG to FRA - but by the time the bags arrived in FRA we were already in India.
I think due to a bit of external help from a friend that works for the airlines, the suitcases were put on a flight to Delhi. Once they touched down in Delhi, they went to a warehouse where they waited to be taken for delivery. We could track their location but couldn’t do anything to get them! They had to be assigned to a delivery driver. So close but so far!
The next day we could see they were taking a tour of Delhi and seeing some interesting sights. They would get near our hotel and then back out to the fringes of the city. We certainly wondered if they would actually be delivered. This particular day we were in Agra visiting the Taj Mahal so we couldn’t do much but watch their journey.
To say it was a great relief to find them in the lobby of our hotel when we returned back that Lufthansa Airlines, is an understatement!
In the end, and frustrations aside delivered our bags safely. Finally, the greatest surprise was after our return I filed a claim to be reimbursed for the necessary clothes and toiletries we had to purchase due to not having the suitcases for 6 days - and Lufthansa paid us back EVERY.SINGLE.PENNY! The process was actually quite easy!
So it was a nice ending to a stressful situation.

Let’s talk about what can ruin an amazing trip really quick - travelers diarrhea. Not a pleasant topic and certainly not a pleasant experience! Nothing is worse than a tour with a toilet instead is a city!

I was hit with the bug going into our third day in Delhi. We had 3 days to explore and unfortunately, I wound up in bed for the last day. At least it wasn’t a travel day, because I couldn’t have flown under any circumstances.

I carry a little first aid kit when I travel full of 🤕 essentials to include neosporin, bandages, Sudafed, Advil, and antibiotics. Fortunately, I generally stay healthy. ✊ on wood. If anything that will happen will be a sinus infection.

We are always so careful to eat only cooked foods, no street food, no ice.. blah blah blah.. and I still got it! No idea.. it just happened. Fortunately, my little first aid kit had the essentials to help relieve my symptoms rather quickly. But regardless it wasn’t an instantaneous bounce back. It took me about 4 days to feel good again.

About a week later, Deb and Izzy can down with a stomach bug. This time we were in Goa. A friend who is a pharmacist took me to a pharmacy and we stockpiled more essentials to combat the local bug. 🔥 Izzy recovered quicker than Deb.
And Deb ended up having a flare up in Dubai which derailed her New Years Eve.

Our guide in Delhi told us that he has had numerous clients get hospitalized from stomach bugs - many of them get really sick after eating street food. 🍱

I am pinching myself that we actually had the opportunity to visit the Taj Mahal! She is so majestic - I nearly passed out from awe as we walked through the gates and had our first glimpse! I just can’t get enough - sorry for the picture overload!

More exploring Agra! After we visited the Taj Mahal - and after our guide took us to a marble carving shop (a bit annoying as we didn’t want this stop..) we arrived at the Red Fort where Mughal emperor Humayun was crowned. It was later renovated by the Mughal emperor Akbar from 1565 and the present-day structure was completed in 1573.
⭐️ It served as the main residence of the rulers of the Mughal dynasty until 1638, when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi. In 1983, the Agra fort was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its importance during the Mughal Dynasty.

Delhi Day 2 - today we took the train to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. I mean, you can’t go to India and not see the Taj Mahal! The train actually worked out great - the journey took about 1.5 hours and it was really comfortable. A car ride is over 4 hours and we learned quickly driving in India is not our favorite thing to do - it’s death defying every.time. We rode executive class on the way and AC Coach on the return. I was worried about how the coach would be - people were loading cows and goats on the trains.. but AC Coach is pretty much like executive with just a few more seats. So either class is great!
Walking into the grounds of the Taj Mahal and seeing it for the first time truly took our breath away!! It was crowded and queueing to get inside was an experience in of itself - perhaps one we could do without ever repeating. People screaming and pushing at each other - I mean it makes it longer to get inside when there isn’t any order.. but hey.. when in Rome..or rather India! 🤣 It was all worth it to get inside because truly what an experience we won’t forget!

File this under storms you don’t want to be out in! ⛈️ What an experience we had today! There have been impressive storms throughout the south for the past few weeks- causing delays and cancellations. Today as we were trying to leave ATL-MSP we got stuck in one of the storms; and they just kept coming! The first round had us sitting on the tarmac while 60 mph winds battered the plane, causing us to really rock and roll. Once we thought we were cleared, we were told to stay put as another storm from the north came our way. I managed to make a Hyperlapse video from the tarmac as I watched it rolled in.. once we were cleared to leave, we were still under the gun to leave before the 3-hour time limit (or be forced to have the flight cancelled) and luckily we were given clearance to skip other planes in the line. I need to give a huge shoutout to the fabulous crew for keeping everyone hydrated and offered snacks. They worked their tails off during those 3 hours, making sure everyone was at least comfortable. Here is the Delta Air Lines One Suite on the A330-900 - deb was 3a and I was 2a - we switched and I find 3a feels a bit claustrophobic compared to 2a because the way the table is situated next to the window. It’s comfortable though! Here is how the door to the suite closes.
We just finished up an amazing Wind Star cruise from San Juan through the Virgin Islands. The ship we were on was the #StarPride which holds a max of 312 passengers - although our particular cruise was around 2/3 full. The personalized service was amazing and since it was a small ship, we got to know many of the other passengers quite well. We started hanging out and eating meals together and made some friends for life! It was a wonderful experience. The Star Pride is an all suite ship - and we had 2 connecting rooms. We have had a few days of mixed weather on our cruise - but in the end - we are so happy to be able to be together and not trying to navigate the nightmare airports.
