Wow, what a response! Thank you to all our applicants so far for our guide positions in Jackson. As we sort through applicants, we'll be reaching out to some of you in the coming days to schedule interviews. If all goes well in 2022, we'll likely be opening up more positions.

It's a coveted job, to be sure. We wanted to pay higher than the average for guides in the Yellowstone area and give our guides a platform for promoting their creative endeavors to help them build their lives, resumes, and careers. My (millennial) generation doesn't usually stay in any one company for life, so we wanted to make sure our guides wouldn't just be driving around doing the same thing forever if they ever changed their mind.

Whatever you do, wherever you go from here, we want top talent to choose National Park Guided Tours to love their daily work and have room to grow personally and professionally, taking their love of the wild with them.

Wildlife viewing tip? Find a kill. Here, a bison carcass is being scavenged by a wolf in Yellowstone. Since warm-blooded animals have much higher metabolic needs than cold-blooded animals, we need to eat almost constantly in comparison. Where easy food is available, you're bound to see predator and scavenger species taking advantage of an easy food source that allows them to expend virtually no calories to enjoy.

Of course many animals will be protective of their scarce food sources, so keep a safe distance away and make sure you aren't presenting a challenge to them and their food.

I followed these two last year and was ecstatic to see this youngster grow so much over the winter. Once the snow melted, I headed back out across the continental divide and shared this valley with these special moose to find them exactly where I expected them to be. That's one of the neat parts of running a tour. You'll make friendships with guests, but you'll also have these relationships with certain animals that get used to your individual scent and presence. As long as you keep a respectful distance and noise to a minimum, they will often learn that you are not a threat, and you'll be able to spend hours and hours with certain individuals.

Today I thought I'd share a bit of the documentary project I've been working on, A Place Among The Stars . It's not strictly part of National Park Guided Tours, but it's an overarching theme that will be carrying through the way we run our tours. Saving the last bits of wild land we have left doesn't have to mean closing them off. In fact, it's often direct exposure to the wonders of nature that can change hearts and minds about how we experience and impact these wonderful places.

In this 20 minute sneak preview, you'll see some of the ways humans are pushing into the last wild spaces and forcing wildlife to change their habits. Just a few days ago, I saw an article about a confirmed kill of a grizzly bear by a mountain goat via goring. They look rather gentle as these herbivores graze on the tundra, but all animals can become dangerous and defensive when backed into a corner. And if all you have is a cell phone camera, don't worry. We've got you covered here at NPGT. Everyone should be able to experience amazing wildlife encounters and walk away with amazing photos no matter their level of photographic equipment or expertise while leaving behind low to no impact on the wildlife of the area. NPGT won't just be another tour with some neat animals. It's a holistic experience based on creating positive and safe encounters for humans and wildlife where everyone benefits.

Hi everyone, I'm Eliott. Most of the stuff on this page is posted by me from Estes Park, and the rest is posted by Ben while he's down under at home in Australia. Thanks for being a part of our page.

This past year, we found out the hard way that Arches National Park wouldn't make exceptions for commercial operators when it came to capacity limits in the park. This essentially made it impossible to offer any meaningful schedule for giving our guests an amazing tour experience, so we pulled up stakes and headed north.

If you haven't guessed already, we're heading to Jackson, Wyoming and I've been out scouting locations for tour stops throughout Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Since it's late in the year and the snow has already started, we're kicking things off up there next spring in 2022.

I can't wait to show you the bears, wolves, waterfalls, geysers, and majestic peaks of Grand Teton. I'll let you know when we open booking for 2022. Until then, enjoy the photos and videos! You can always follow me over at The Wilderness Diary and Wilderness Media Co to catch up on other projects while we wait for spring!

I've always liked Roam 's slogan, "adventure with purpose." Our approach to experiencing our amazing wildlands is rooted in much the same mantra. Your time in these special places should entertain, educate, and enlighten you, and our tours have to be more than riding around in a van and stopping once in a while for an animal. We want to take a holistic approach to the experience and leave our guests with a greater understanding of the natural world with memories that will last a lifetime.

If you feel the same way, think about looking into our tour guide job openings.

What's your face like when you realize you can see wolves, grizzly bears, bison, waterfalls, geysers, and snow-capped jagged peaks all on a single tour?

Always out looking for snacks, this big boy was patrolling a hillside looking for berries. After a long day of hiking in the sun, he finally sat down to rub his belly in satisfaction.
