Jessica and I had to stop in mid-groom to take note that we both had standard poodles on our tables. Two different families and two different desires on how they want their dogs to look. Celine gets a modified continental clip and Rainy Days gets a short clip all over for maintainability. With poodles, clip choices are endless!

I love these socialization checklists for clients because so many people think it’s just about playing with other dogs and meeting people.

Socialization is about normalizing the world for your dog. Teaching them to handle new things, to be indifferent to distractions and create positive or neutral associations with all the things in our world. Particularly things your puppy will need to learn about.

Cara has experienced observing or interacting with all of the highlighted things during her two week stay with us. I even wrote in a few. In a few weeks she will likely be less receptive of new things.

Don’t waste these early weeks! You don’t get them back.

Sarah says she still has a few openings for Christmas boarding! We will be closed for boarding over the Thanksgiving holiday as Sarah will be visiting family up north For the holiday this year. Which means to start booking your grooming appts before the Thanksgiving Holiday, if Sarah is your preferred groomer. Don't worry though if you're not able to get in for your November appt with Sarah, while she is away Jessica and Brittany will be available.

Sadie the shihtzu came in for a fullgroom while her sister the Japanese chin came in to just supervise and get used to the noises till her puppy appt next week. Their owners brought them in at 12 weeks to make sure the groom experience wasn't stressful and will be bringing them in frequently while theyre still small so it remains a positive experience.

The Alabama Big 10 Mayors just announced a statewide photography competition to showcase the distinct character and beauty of our state. The competition runs now through Sept. 4.

Residents from Auburn, Birmingham, Decatur, Dothan, Hoover, Huntsville, Madison, Mobile, Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa are asked to submit their best pictures of their respective cities.

Contest participants are asked to submit their entries via direct message to the Alabama Big 10 Mayors’ page: https://www.facebook.com/alabamabig10

The mayors will share these posts through social media. The photo that garners the most likes will be declared the winner. The winner will receive a $500 Visa gift card and recognition from the Alabama Big 10 Mayors’ platform.

Of course, I would love to see a photo from Mobile win the competition! So ya'll make sure to submit your photos before Sept. 4.

Jessica one of our groomers got her standard poodle puppy at 8 weeks and we've been working with her once a week with clippers and about every other day with the a bath and nail to get her used to the process of grooming. Proof on how starting early can make a difference in a dogs stress levels and coat care quality.

Wearing them out and then they can go in for water and a nap. This was after a good 30min hard play, tired babies are happy babies. This is Koda, Mina, Juju and Baxter. It's been a long time since I've had dogs I could put together in a well mannered play group. Three are puppies and this is a good play experience for them to learn social skills.

I know items are expensive these days, especially cleaning supplies and litter but any bit goes along way for the homeless pets at the shelter. Yes, with the donations I did have I mostly bought cat items because typically people tend to not donate cat items as much as dog items. So I focused on that <3 Thank you <3

The building was bought Jan 2016 and has been under renovation since, we are finally ready to open but please excuse our continuing progress as we create the feel we are looking for that we visioned Paws on Pinehill to have for our downtown pet community. We have a lot planned for our little shop and we're sure you'll love the finished product!
