What a fabulous Father's Day !!
Had my buddy Charlie and his oldest daughter Samantha on the boat with my girls Samantha and Sabrina .. we ran over 30 miles offshore looking for bluefin tuna.
There were whales and dolphin everywhere , tuna we're harder to find ... I left the fleet and was heading south to deeper water and bam, outrigger goes off ....tuna took a Chatter Lures side tracker bar and I had my Samantha reeling in the fish .. 30 seconds later the flatline went off on the Nomad Tackle DTX200 deep diver ... Line was peeling off the reel even after I moved the drag past strike ... I knew it was a big fish !
Charlie's daughter Sam was fighting the 2nd fish while my daughter Samantha was battling the tuna. Charlie took over after Sam was nearly yanked out of the boat ..this fish kept getting bigger !
Charlie does battle and now we see the fish on top ... Looks like a shark ... Gets closer , it's a mako !!
I have Charlie lighten the drag and get the mako away while the two Sams tag team the bluefin ..... Swing the tuna over the rail and set my focus on the mako.
Got within dart range and stick him through the gills ...mako takes off towards the sea floor ... Becomes tail wrapped and we winch him up and get 2 tail ropes on him !! Bam, tuna and a mako.
What a way to spend Father's Day ❤️
