Sun Dec 15 – Coxes Ledge Cod & Sea Bass
Captain JR reports a bit of a tough day for the Coxes trip onboard the Viking Star. We pushed pretty far offshore to try and find a quality late season bite. A few spots had some pretty good action with big Sea Bass, nice COD, and Ling. However, it definitely wasn’t the lock and load fishing we had been hoping for. Everyone had some fish, just not a slammer day.

Fri Dec 13- Sun Dec 15: Nantucket Wrecks Christmas – Cod/SeaBass/Hake/Po***ck
Captain JR reports a pretty good trip out to the wrecks onboard the Viking Starship. We had no problem hitting a few spots that had lots of big knot head sea bass, but the cod bite was a little off from what we usually see on these trips. However, we picked away all day and most guys had some cod to add to their nice catch of sea bass. We also landed some very nice po***ck, some ling, and whiting to make it a real mixed bag. At the end of the day it all added up to a good trip.

The winner of the Cod pool went to Gary Grothman from Kings Park, NY with a 16 lb fish. The Black SeaBass pool winner went to Michael Bunch from Flandres, NY with a 6.3 lb fish. Our edible pool winner went to Dongyu from Queens, NY with a 14.6 lb Pollack.

Captain Steven Jr. has added three "1 Day Tile and Deep Water Wreck Trips" on the Viking Starship for January.

Departs Friday, January 10th @ 10pm - Returns Saturday, January 11th @ 10pm

Departs Friday, January 17th @ 10pm - Returns Saturday, January 18th @ 10pm

Departs Friday, January 24th @ 10pm - Returns Saturday, January 25th @ 10pm

These trips will be fishing both open and ledges for Tile and Deepwater Wreck fish, looking for Tile, Po***ck, Hake and Barrel fish. Depths of 400 t0 1000 feet can be expected and a minimum of 2 lbs of lead and electric reels are recommended but not required. Bait is included. The fare is $450.

Sat Dec 14 - Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a slower day on the Viking Star. We fished a wreck first thing and had nice keeper Sea Bass. Then we headed off to the east and had good action on the hard bottom, but there were mostly small Sea Bass. There were plenty of Bergalls, 1 Cod and a few Porgies to round out the day. The pool winner was Terry Li from Brooklyn, NY with a 2.2 lb Porgy. The 5AM Porgy & Sea Bass trip is cancelled tomorrow, but we will be sailing at 4AM for Coxes Ledge Cod & Sea Bass. There is limited space available, so book online at vikingfleet.com!

Tue Dec 10 - Coxes Ledge Cod & Sea Bass
Capt JR reports a very productive day onboard the Viking Star. We had no problem finding the jumbo Knothead Sea Bass with everyone easily getting a limit. We also found some nicer Cod everywhere we went with Ling, giant Scup, and a few Po***ck topping off the catch. Solid day all around. The Cod pool winner was Sondra Vallejo from Flushing, NY with a 13 lber. The Sea Bass pool winner was Gelu Pislaru from Hopatcong, NJ with a 4.5 lber.

Tue Dec 10 - Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a slow day on the Viking Starship. We looked around at a lot of spots, but unfortunately they really weren't chewing today. There were a handful of Porgies, a handful of good Sea Bass with a bunch of small mixed in, a few Cod and a lot of Bergalls. The pool winner was Peter Wong from Brooklyn, NY with a 2 lb Porgy. We are cancelled tomorrow, Wed Dec 11 and Thursday, Dec 12 due to the storm expected. We are looking to get back out there Friday, Dec 13!

Mon Dec 9 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Today's action seemed to favor more towards the SeaBass with most anglers having their limit of some nice keeper sized fish. The Porgy bite was ok, they were around just not really chewing, but we manged some decent Scup on the boat. We also saw a handful of Cod aboard the boat today a long with a lot of Bergall. Overall, some pretty good action and we are looking to see some improvement tomorrow with the nice weather. The first prize pool winner went to Bruno Vidaic from Massapequa, NY with a 2 3/4 lb Porgy. We are sailing tomorrow at 5am on two trips, our Block Island Jumbo Porgies and SeaBass on the Viking Starship and our Coxes Ledge Cod and SeaBass on the Viking Star, our ticket office will be open at 4am for check-in.

Sat Dec 7 - Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a decent day of fishing on the Viking Starship. Sea Bass fishing was excellent. There were plenty and they were nice size. The Porgy fishing was tough. Everyone only managed a handful. Maybe when it calms down they will chew better. We also had a dozen Cod for the light crowd we had today. The pool winner was Mark Birt from Queens, NY with a 2.2 lb Porgy. All fishing is cancelled tomorrow, Sunday Dec 8 due to weather. We will be getting back out there Monday with the good weather forecasted.

Wed Dec 4 - Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We started off inside of the island. It was straight Sea Bass of mixed size, everything from small to large. We made a move and found more Sea Bass. Then we moved a bit more to the east and found the Porgies there. There were mixed size double header Porgies with all BIG Sea Bass! We also had a handful of Cod and some Mackerel. No pool today. All trips are cancelled tomorrow, Thursday, December 5th due to the very windy conditions expected.

Tues Dec 3 – Coxes Ledge Cod & Sea Bass
Captain JR reports a fair day of fishing onboard the Viking Star. We had to do a little looking around as we haven’t been out to the ledge in about a week, but it wasn’t half bad. We easily got a very nice limit of nice knot head sea bass and also a good showing of nice green cod. A few drops also had some big porgies, nice ling, and green bonito. Everyone had a good catch at the end of the day. The first prize pool winner went to Stephen Sbreben from Miller Place, NY with a 15 lb Cod. The SeaBass pool winner went to Peng Zhang from Garden City, NJ with a 5 lb fish. We sail Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 5am- 4pm for our Coxes Ledge Cod and SeaBass.

Mon Dec 2 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Today was an all around mixed pick at just about every drop we saw equal amounts of both Porgies and SeaBass both on the larger side. We also had Blue fish, Mackerell, and Green Bonita on the boat as well today. The SeaBass fishing today was a large improvement from what we have been seeing in the past week or so, which did make for some really great fishing. The first prize pool winner went to Tong Luo from Cedar Allen, NY with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. We will NOT be sailing tomorrow for our Block Island Porgies and SeaBass, however our Coxes Ledge Cod and SeaBass trip will still be sailing at 5am.

Sat Nov 30 – Night Squid Fishing
Captain Carl reports that the weatherman got it wrong last night. The wind was blowing hard from the NW, making very uncomfortable and unpleasant conditions. Yes, we did still catch some squid, but we had to call the trip early and give everyone credit towards future fishing trips.

Tonight has the same weather forecast up, so we will not be sailing.
There are still millions of Squid out here in Montauk, and we will sail again on the next good weather night. We will post our next trip as soon as we know!

Sat Nov 30 - Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports an okay day on the Viking Starship despite the weather. We had tough wind conditions and the bite was off. It was hard to feel them biting, but what we did catch was very good size. We also had about a dozen Cod up to 12 lbs. The first place pool winner was Benny Basurto from Staten Island with a 2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Miguel Atens with a 12 lb Cod. We are not sailing tomorrow due to the wind conditions expected. We will be back at it Monday at 5AM and the weather forecast looks beautiful!

Fri Nov 29 - Squid Fishing
Capt Joe reports a consistent squid pick last night. A lot of bigger sized tubes coming up with a good showing of mackerel making their way into the buckets. The tough weather made it difficult for some anglers to stick it out at the rail but those who did were rewarded with sea krakens. We are sailing Saturday and Sunday night! The fare is $60. Departure is at 5:30pm and the return is at 12am. Book online at vikingfleet.com or give us a call at 631-668-5700.
