Free vessel details are now being offered by our friendly neighborhood sea lions.

Sea lions are becoming increasingly present in the harbor so please make sure to visit your vessels often! This vessel experienced a broken stanchion as well as the obvious mess.

If we had a nickel for every time Harbor staff pulled a sunken pirate out of the water, we'd have one nickel.

Harbor diver and maintenance staff recovered this pirate statue off Old Fisherman's Wharf and assisted with its return home.

1) Number of trees fallen and removed in the City of Monterey proper: 151
2) Number of trees lost on the Presideo grounds 81
3) Major tree limbs removed 28

What we are seeing here at the Harbor and close in Bay waters is quite a few "Deadheads"

(A deadhead is a log that’s been swept to sea, become waterlogged and commenced the slow process of sinking. While floating for months or years on end, it has also become home to sea life—seaweed, barnacles, kelp—that further weighs on it.)

These Deadheads pose a significant threat to vessels. They can easy damage running gear and in serious situations may damage the integrity of the hull.

November 12 and 13 is the Monterey Bay Half Marathon. The Monterey Bay Half Marathon is an out-and-back course beginning in historic downtown Monterey, running along Steinbeck’s Cannery Row, and next to the beautiful Pacific Grove shoreline. The course features scenic views of waves crashing on rocky beaches, beautiful Victorian-era homes, and frequent sightings of aquatic life (whales, dolphins, sea otters, pelicans and more). Celebrate your finish with family and friends at the downtown Custom House Plaza-Monterey State Historic Park at our post-race Finish Village, enjoy a free beer and watch the Awards Ceremony.
