"Breaking news: Caltrans today announced that Highway 1 will NOT reopen by the end of 2024 as originally planned.
Because of safety concerns for crews trying to clear the Regent’s Slide north of Lucia, reopening of the road will be pushed to sometime in 2025"

Sad news for CA, but safety first for sure. You can still drive all the way South past Big Sur, and all the way North to Lucia from the South. You just can't go all the way through...yet.
