My Review of Virgin Voyages...warning long post⚠️

📅Date of Sail December 17-22, 2023 Puerta Plata DR & Bimini

🚢 Virgin is a different vibe. I've been on Carnival, Royal, and Norwegian. In comparison, you will get to be an adult...no early morning announcements, no kids, no dress codes. It's like date night, you choose to go to this restaurant, or this show and make reservations. Or you can party with the girls/guys..You have your choice of so many things to be active or low key. The food is excellent no buffets and it's all included . And the private beach club is very nice and food is included. If you love to line dance don't expect it on Virgin though...they play very good music though.

⚓Embarkation: Hands down the best embarkation I've ever experienced. You are given a time to board the ship. You come at your time and you are on the ship in about 20 minutes if that long. Basically they just double check your credentials and give you your bracelet ( which unlocks your room and controls your onboard account) and you are on your way. Virgin doesn't give you luggage tags, you tell the porters your room number and they create a tag for you. Your room is ready for you once you get on board and our luggage came before sail away.

For those that come early anyways due to having to check out hotel early or whatever the reason, Virgin has you covered too. No, you don't get to board early, but you can take their free shuttle to Bay Side market place and hang out there. We did that and got to explore the area a bit before our embarkation time.

🚢The ship: The Scarlet Lady is lovely. Very clean. We had a central sea terrace (mid ship balcony) The room was spacious but the bathroom is tiny. The XL sea Terrance bathroom is bigger but I like to be mid ship so I just dealt with it. If you love technology, you will love this ship. You can control the lights, the mood (yup, I said it the mood.. it's a whole vibe) , opening and closing your window coverings from the provided tablet and more. I hardly got to touch the tablet as my husband became instantly attached to it...lol

Virgin is very organized..you have to make reservations for dining and for shows. On the app, once on board you see the layout for your whole voyage instead of waiting each day to get a daily activity sheet. So take just a few minutes to see what you'd like to see and do and make your reservations. If you like paper copies they have that too just ask your room attendant or get from guest services.

👨‍🍳The food: We ate at a different restaurant each night. You have to make reservations for brunch also. And you will want to experience it at least once. There is no wait if you have a reservation, you are escorted directly to your seats. You will also want to order room service at least once. The food was delicious. Some our favorites were the smoked bacon at Razzle Dazzle. At Extra Virgin, they have this dish with oxtails. At Pink Agave, you have to try the steak it's done differently but it's delish. We loved the lamb shank and so many more dishes and the deserts were good too. Food allergies? Vegan? No problem! Virgin has you covered. If you like to experiment try out Test Kitchen or Gunbae. We chose to skip those this go around. Drinks were on point too. We had a $300 bar tab...and most drinks were like $10-$14 dollars.., sadly we had a remaining balance. We even used it for smoothies and lattes. 🍷☕🥤

If all the planning isn't for you..not a problem. You can still show up to the restaurants. If they have availability they will sit you. Otherwise you get to go to the Galley. Think of it like a mall food court. There are several good options. And they have a pizza place which is very good.

💃🕺Entertainment : We only saw two shows and they both were very good. Duel reality is a must see. Ships in the night was also very good. If you like karaoke, they have private jam sessions you can sign up for. So you can do a party of 2 or however many you want in your session. It's called the Groupie and we enjoyed it. There are two theme parties: PJ party and Scarlett night. We attended both and they did not disappoint. There is live music, trivia, games and other activities as well. Oh, they have an arcade that you can play all your favorite games as much as you want without a fee. I got to reconnect with Donkey Kong...haven't played in decades.

⚓Disembarkation: just as smooth getting off. No rush to pack and put luggage out the night before. You pick your time to get off and get off. We chose 1030am.

So I think that covers it?! Oh in case you are wondering... we saw no jaw dropping inappropriateness going on just because it was adults only. You just have to experience it! We loved it and will be going back again!
