As a doula, you are part of the birth team. Your presence and experience is a valid part of the room and in this birth experience. You were hired for your expertise and understanding of the birth process. Your voice matters.
How many times have we, as birthworkers, stayed silent when we knew of other options to try? Are we hesitant to start a conversation that may lead to a better outcome because 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗿 “𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱”?
Listen to Lydia talk about her first birth after the Keeping Your Power™ workshop and how the tools learned prevented a cesarean. Understanding your role in centering the birthing person in all options and decisions that come up can change birth outcomes!

Your cervix not progressing before labor does not mean you need help!! #pregnancytips #pregnancy #mom #birth #labor
Water breaks typically at the END of a labor. Don’t wait for your water to break to go in. If your water breaks with no contractions, you can go when you’re comfortable with the risk assessment of education. Google evidence based birth prom. In this situation, if you are group b positive or if the waters have color/odor, the EBB article does not apply to you.

This subject has people up in arms. ACOGs (US), smfm, and the march of dimes says 37-38 weeks is early term. When considering natural induction methods and when spontaneous labor usually happens by evidence … take inyo consideration that full term is 39-40+ 6. If you are going to comment your dr said …. Please google current term guidelines and talk them over with your dr. #birth #pregnancy #momsofinstagram #preggo #labor
Predictions set you up for disappointment. No one can tell when labor will begin. #birth #pregnancy #momsofinstagram #preggo #pregnant #labor

My daughter Becca is spreading some encouragement. She’s right… this season will be lovely and hard for some. Thinking of those who are struggling with the Merry of Christmas. #birth #pregnancy #momsofinstagram #preggo #parenting #loss #doula
Im so confused at why this is even a thing. The cervix being closed at 40 weeks does not mean you wouldn’t go into labor and that HELP IS NEEDED! The cervix being 3-4 or 80% effaced does not mean you will see labor the next day or it will be fast.
Take an out if hospital childbirth education class…. These and other misconceptions that plague birth culture will be covered.
I promise you will thank me later. #birth #pregnancy #momsofinstagram #preggo #pregnant #childbirtheducation

Inducing with castor oil early term could have consequences. Never use castor oil without a care provider supervision. #pregnancylife #induction #mom #doula #birth #laboranddelivery
Advocating isn’t easy for any of us.
If you are wanting to hire a doula for advocacy reasons, make sure they are doing the work to be the advocate you need. Define advocacy and what it means to you. Self advocacy is the default, the doula cannot fight harder than you’re willing to fight for yourself.
Doula, the hard work begins with you!
Self awareness and acceptance that you are an important part of your client’s team is the key to advocacy success without breaking down a team but in making it stronger than ever!
Being a “good” doula doesn’t mean being booked up and having b your comfort measure ready to go, it means you know your place and are standing in your power to bring a team together.
Are you wavering in your power ad an advocate doula?
