Google Translate is a great tool when you’re travelling abroad but don’t speak the language. It normally requires an internet connection but if you’re planning to travel without a data package here’s one way you can still use the app. Once you’ve downloaded the app, navigate to Settings, then choose “Offline Translation”. From there, you’ll be able to download the different languages you need.

Fun fact! You can use Google Maps for directions anytime, without WIFI or data. All you have to do is search your destination while on a WIFI network, either before you travel or at your hotel and download the offline map in Google’s settings. And voila, you’ll be able to use Google’s navigation system to get directions without any WIFI or data. You can also download offline maps for any surrounding cities or areas you plan to visit while on your trip.
