🐾 Bring your River Dogs to the River Realm this weekend!

🐾 The will be sponsoring and holding a Dog Show at the Scotty Yard Dog Park at Town Centre Park on September 9, featuring a large number of competitive events for both adults and children along with vendors featuring doggie products and food trucks.

🐾 There will also be a doggy parade, k-9 demonstrations from local community organizations and so much more!

Coca-Cola was invented in 1886 by pharmacist John Stith Pemberton in Atlanta, Georgia. The drink is named after two of its original ingredients, coca leaves and kola nuts.

Coca-Cola was dominating the world soft drink market by 1921 when two Coca-Cola bottling and distributing plants opened in the Northern Neck of Virginia, one in Kilmarnock in Lancaster County and the other at McGuires Wharf in Westmoreland County. Both plants operated under the name Northern Neck Coca-Cola.

In 1928 the two plants consolidated and moved to a wood frame building in Montross, Westmoreland County. The present brick Coca-Cola building was completed by May 12, 1932 when a grand opening celebration was held. The public was invited to tour the plant in operation and music was provided by James Wharton and his Orchestra, of Kilmarnock.

With the invention of Northern Neck Ginger Ale in the 1920s by Arthur Carver Sr., the plant continued to thrive through three generations of Carvers producing and selling the soft drink.

Northern Neck Coca-Cola closed in 2001 when the business and the formula for Northern Neck Ginger Ale were sold to Coca-Cola.
