We want to share our colleague’s story. It’s one that’s motivated the BKON team to rally behind the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and we’re asking for your support too.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION ZACH BOVE:

First and foremost, I would like to send my love to BKON's partners, clients, vendors, staff, board members and the greater coffee community. The past months have been incredibly difficult for me and my family. Four months ago my 31 year old sister Sam, passed away after a short and hard fought battle with cancer. Less than a week after her passing, I was suddenly diagnosed with T-ALL Leukemia. Since my diagnosis, I've suffered a collapsed lung (twice) and spent two months in the hospital.

Cancer has taken a lot from me and my family. I've lost my sister, the ability to walk well, the chance to chase my 15-month-old daughter around the house, the pleasure of walking with my wife and dog every evening, as well as many more of life's pleasures I've taken for granted. What cancer cannot and has not taken away from me, is my spirit and determination. And cancer can never take away the love and support of my family and friends. If I could lend everyone some advice, it would be that all the cliches in and about life are true. Be present and tell those in your life that you love them.

I've been inspired by mine and my sister's experience to build support for the individuals and their family and friends who are struggling with cancer. I want to thank BKON for helping me bring awareness to these initiatives and causes. I will be back churning out BKON's delicious cold brew as soon as I can.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
