Happy December! We’re going to round out the year running one last month of Halibut / Cod trips then transition to Winter Halibut come January 2025.

Been having some gorgeous weather out there lately and we’re crossing our fingers it holds for a somewhat mild winter. Book your trip and get-in on the action!

The rain is here which means Winter Halibut trips are BACK on the calendar for 2025. Running January - April, these trips are limited to 3 anglers and priced at $400 per seat for open party trips, or $1k for a private charter.

The two largest halibut that hit the deck on the Ghostrider both came at the end of January. Don’t let the cold temperatures fool you as we’ve had some of the best halibut fishing of the year during these months.

Plenty of availability rolling into November to go catch these deepwater shelf and slope rockfish.

We are seeing voracious schools of chili peppers up to 5lbs, solid reds, and big bocaccios in the mix.

Slow pitch style jigs in the 200-400 gram range paired with light 15-30lb braid and a short 40-50lb flouro leader has been the ticket to staying vertical and getting the quality bites. If you don’t have one your shoulders will thank you for investing in a lightweight SPJ setup as we’re fishing anywhere from 300-400ft.

October 1st is next Tuesday meaning we’ll soon be switching gears to our deepwater cod program.

We will continue running Halibut / Rockfish trips throughout the rest of the year at $300 per angler and have plenty of October - December availability.

Fall on the central coast has historically provided us with some beautiful ocean conditions and we look forward to taking advantage of it.

Variety packs. Warm calm mornings turning into chilly 20+ mph gusts by noon was Mother Nature’s schedule this weekend…she has no medium setting on the NW wind.

It was a scratchy bite but our anglers made it happen in some less than ideal afternoon conditions, producing some quality hits on the local groundfish.

With our September calendar nearly full, we are looking to October to switch gears and start filling dates for deepwater cod and halibut combos.

Your boat or ours, CCFC captains are here to put you on the fish of your dreams.

Captain John got the call from Mr. Hayashi to run his 25’ Parker the other week and it resulted in a ripper bite producing over 500lbs of bluefin tuna.

The three fish dressed went 227, 160, and 106. The 227 taped out to somewhere in the 250-260 range pre-gilled & gutted, making it our first cow bluefin and largest tuna captured in CCFC history.

The local weather this past July and August has been the windiest we’ve seen since opening 4 years ago. Relentless NW wind and swell intervals less than 6 seconds hasn’t let us capitalize on our standard summertime program.

That being said, we are stoked to explore new opportunities to get motivated anglers and boat owners on fish in SoCal waters when the weather doesn’t cooperate out of Morro Bay.

Always a good time fishing Jurassic Park with a couple of anglers who know how to put the 🔨 down… and may have had a bit fun doing so as well.

We have until the end of September to keep the gravy train goin’ in the shallows until we get bumped out to the 50 fathom line starting October 1st.

From then on out it’s gonna be slow pitch jigging, heavy lead heads, or electric reels as far as cod fishing goes. In November we may be offering a few limited time shallow cod trips north of Lopez Point. Stay tuned for that or reach out if you’re interested.

Little bit of this, little bit of that.

Our Halibut / Rockfish trips have been scoring as summer fishing heats up on the Central Coast. The inshore fishing remains steady with consistent bites on trophy halibut, big lings, and stud reds for our anglers.

In regard to the offshore scene, Capt. John kicked off our season and located bluefin within range during an evening recon mission. We’ve added Bluewater Trip availability through mid-November for those who want a shot at bluefin, albacore, and more (weather permitting).

We have a last minute opening this Friday 7/12 - looking to fill 4 seats for a Jurassic Park Special. Planning to search for shallows for cod, halibut, and white sea bass.

12 hour trip, departs at 3am with Capt. John; $400 per angler, book it with the link in our profile.

Throughout the summer season we’re also offering the option to upgrade Halibut / Cod trips to a Halibut / WSB trip for an additional $100. If the conditions allow we will put in the time targeting ghosts.
