Jeff Raegen and Associates: A day on the Bay with our future team members.😀

We took a few hours out last week to spend some time together as a Team and celebrate Jeff’s birthday. Whale watching was amazing! Happy belated birthday Jeff!

We have some sad news to share with you all: We received photos of a beached whale Monday and immediately recognized the whale as our beloved humpback whale Fran. She was found beached Sunday afternoon, necropsied Monday in Half Moon Bay, CA. Her cause of death was determined to be from a ship strike, blunt force trauma likely hit by the bow of a large vessel. Fran was 17 years old, very healthy, and leaves behind a calf. She was a very well known and loved humpback in the Monterey Bay Area, photographed every year of her life except 2006, born of a whale named Big Fin aka River. In Happywhale, Fran is the most frequently seen whale in all of California.

For those who may not know Fran, she was named by Ferd Bergholz (who we believe took this photo) in memory of his wife.

We all love Fran so much so in honor of her today, post a picture you’ve taken of her at one point in time and tag us. We will share all your photos on our stories today.
