Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, starring Matlock’s Daniel Roebuck as Scrooge, opens TONIGHT, at 7:00 pm at the Andy Griffith Playhouse. This classic Christmas story helps us to see the real meaning of Christmas and puts us in the true spirit of the holidays! 🎄🎅🏻

Year after year our City Grounds Maintenance Crew knocks it out of the park with every season. We especially love the site of the Christmas Tree 🎄 & the area around it which has been transformed into a magical winter wonderland! ❄️⛄️ With twinkling lights, photo opportunities, and of course Santa Claus 🎅🏻, this makes for a beautiful area to bring the kids to see some Christmas lights! 🎄🎅🏻☃️ This is located in Downtown Mount Airy between City Hall (300 S Main St) and the War Memorial (at the corner of N Main & Rockford St).

‼️🚨UPDATE🚨‼️ Due to the threat of the cold temperatures and wind, a decision has been made to cancel the Half Mile of Christmas Cheer. There will not be musical performances on the street. There WILL be a short Tree Lighting Ceremony following the conclusion of the City Council Meeting, around 5:45pm. 🎄

Innkeepers Crysti & Brian Everhart of Heart & Soul Bed & Breakfast delivered a delicious breakfast to our Visitor Center staff this morning. Our meal consisted of a breakfast cup, bacon, homemade apple sauce, and a pumpkin crumb muffin. Every single thing was delicious and perfectly crafted! The effort and detail that went into this meal shows just what kind of innkeepers Crysti and Brian are! Thank you guys so very much!! We appreciate it! We are pleased to welcome Jamie Johnston to the Mount Airy Tourism Development Authority team as Visitor Center & Communications Manager. With a passion for travel, tourism, and destination marketing, Jamie Johnston brings 25 years of experience in the tourism industry, including overseeing the Yadkin County Tourism Development Authority. In this new position, she will be responsible for overseeing the Visitor Center operations, managing group tours, attending travel shows & media missions, enhancing local partnerships, and promoting regional attractions.
“We are thrilled to have Jamie Johnston join our team,” said Jessica Roberts, Executive Director of Mount Airy Tourism Development Authority. “Her extensive background in promotion & marketing, event planning, brand development, data collection, budgeting and financial oversight along with a true enthusiasm for our area will help elevate our marketing efforts and bring fresh ideas to our outreach initiatives.” Before joining Mount Airy Tourism Development Authority, Jamie worked at the Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Partnership & Visitor Center as Administrative Assistant overseeing Chamber events and programs, event planning, assisting with economic development projects, bookkeeping and the day-to-day operations of the Yadkin County Tourism Development Authority. Jamie holds a degree in Office Systems Technology from Surry Community College. "I am excited to join the talented team at the Mount Airy Tourism Development Authority and contribute to the growth of tourism in Mount Airy”, said Jamie Johnston. "I look forward to collaborating with local businesses and community stakeholders to share the amazing experiences our destination has to offer."

We are excited to welcome Jamie Johnston to our team and are equally pleased to announce that Jenny Smith, who has been a valued member of the Mount Airy Tourism Development Authority for the past eight years, will be stepping into the role of Sales & Marketing Manager. During her tenure, Jenny has been instrumental in managing the Visitor Center and group tours, as well as supporting the Downtown Business Association with event promotion and ex*****on. She has also served on numerous committees and boards and will continue to be an active contributor to the community. In her new role, Jenny will leverage her experience to further enhance tourism efforts and focus on the development of the future conference center, working to attract groups and meeting planners to ensure its success. In her new role as Sales & Marketing Manager, Jenny will oversee social media content, tourism promotion, and the sales strategy for the upcoming conference center. She will focus on recruiting meeting planners, organizations, and groups, playing a key role in ensuring the conference center’s success and driving its growth as a premier destination for events and meetings. “We are excited to announce Jenny’s new role and the expanded opportunities to drive tourism efforts forward,” said Jessica Roberts, Executive Director. “Jenny has demonstrated exceptional dedication to our mission, and I am confident that her new role will have a positive impact on our region’s tourism landscape.” Jenny shared her excitement about the new position, “I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to step into this new role. Meet our unofficial Downtown Dog, Viktor 😍 Viktor is a 4 month old Boerboel who is the new face of The Dapper Hound. At 70 pounds already, he's definitely going to be a gentle giant. But we can assure you Viktor is the sweetest boy and he's ready to welcome you to Mayberry! Be sure to stop into and say hello to shop owner, Roxane Cann and Viktor, the dapper dog 🐾🐶

Also, bring your dog into the visitor center for a special souvenir dog bandana like the one Viktor is wearing!
