Come join us as we pay tribute to America's heroes! The Town of Mount Airy will be hosting our American Spirit Parade beginning at 6:30 p.m. July 1.

The parade route runs from Mount Airy Elementary School (405 N. Main St.) to the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company Carnival Grounds (1008 Twin Arch Rd.). A band will be at the Carnival Grounds playing live music as well as patriotic tunes and the National Anthem during a flag raising ceremony.

The Town is thrilled to be welcoming back this beloved community parade and pay heartfelt tribute to military, first responders and area service clubs.

Paving is set to begin this week in the Village of Tall Oaks.

Vehicles must be moved from the mill and pave areas by 6 a.m. and can be returned after 6 p.m. or when that day’s activity is complete. Vehicles may be parked along Village Oaks Drive during these times.

Please look at the color coded map for milling and paving dates.

Yellow Area:
Mill: May 29
Pave: May 30

Blue:
Mill: May 30
Pave: May 31

Orange:
Mill: May 31
Pave: June 3

All work is weather permitting.

The Mount Airy Garden Club will be hosting their annual spring plant sale on Saturday, May 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main St.

Hanging flower baskets, annuals, perennials, herbs, tomato plants, shrubs and bluebird houses will be some of the items for sale. Cash or check only.

Proceeds from the event will go toward community plantings, decorating projects in the town and youth and senior gardening activities.

No one really feels like cooking on a Friday night so let the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary do all the work.

The group will be hosting a buffet dinner on Friday, May 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the MAVFC Reception Hall, 1008 Twin Arch Rd.

The cost is $18 for adults, $8 for kids between the ages of 6 and 12 and children five and under are free. Carryout meals are $20 a piece.

The menu will include fried chicken and meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gray, mac n cheese, green beans, stewed tomatoes, baked apples, cole saw, roll and butter and a drink. Desserts will also be available for purchase.
