Traveling abroad or to a touristy area soon?! Don’t want this to be you?!
⚠️ Here are some tips on how to avoid being pickpocketed 👇🏻👇🏻
1️⃣ Be EXTRA cautious with your bags. Whether it’s your luggage, purse, or backpack. Always place it near you and ensure you keep it zipped and locked with a luggage lock. If you are wearing a purse, I would recommend a crossbody or f***y pack and turn it in towards your body. When you’re in a crowded place make sure to keep it close to your body and keep your hands on it at all times.
2️⃣ Avoid putting valuables in your pockets, especially your back pockets. Your back pocket is the easiest place for someone to sn**ch your phone or wallet from. Consider getting a money belt to wear underneath your clothes. If you insist on putting something in your pocket make sure it zips or buttons.
3️⃣ Never leave your valuables on the table at a restaurant. This makes it so easy for someone to come by and swipe your things. Keep them tucked away and be discrete as to where you place them. If you place them in a bag that is not secured this makes it just as easy for them to grab. Try using a phone case lanyard that you can strap around your chest or wrist. Or keep your bag on your lap while you are sitting down.
4️⃣ Stash your cash in multiple safe places on you. In the case that the worst happens and something gets stolen, at least you have portioned your valuables so that you haven’t lost everything.
5️⃣ ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings. Most pickpockets tend to operate within crowds. People are usually distracted and in a hurry when in a crowd. Crowds offer plenty of distraction for a quick swipe & getaway. Don’t walk around with your nose in your phone and keep your head on a swivel at all times.
📌 Save this for later if you plan on taking a trip to a touristy spot.
