Set in the Revolutionary War era, Liberty Square pays tribute to daily life in the original thirteen colonies. Guests can get up close to an authentic replica of the Liberty Bell and meet all 45 different Presidents of the United States in a stirring show tracing the nation’s history inside the Hall of Presidents. A walk along the Rivers of America from Liberty Square to neighboring Frontierland is a journey through the country’s era of westward expansion.

From the landing of the Mayflower to Valley Forge, the Civil War to the Great Depression, Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain guide guests on this trip through time.

Note that to experience any in-park offerings, guests must have valid theme park admission and may need a theme park reservation depending on type of admission and date of visit. The ability to visit a theme park is subject to the park's capacity limitations.

‘The Lion King’ 30-Year Celebration Roars into Disney’s Animal Kingdom

June 11, 2024

We’ve kicked off our special celebration of the 30th anniversary of “The Lion King” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. From now until Sept. 6, fans of the original animated film can enjoy character greetings, themed food and drinks, unique merchandise items and other special “only at Disney” surprises.

Here’s a quick look at some anniversary highlights guests have got to experience this summer.

‘Lion King’ Characters at Animal Kingdom

During “The Lion King” 30th anniversary celebration at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, guests can meet favorite characters Timon and Rafiki at Conservation Station at Rafiki's Planet Watch. Guests can take the train to Conservation Station by entering near the exit of Kilimanjaro Safaris in the park and the My Disney Experience app has details on when both characters are available this summer.

At Conservation Station, guests can also learn to draw other favorite characters from “The Lion King” at Animation Experience.

New ‘Lion King’ Anniversary Treats

There are new, limited time delights featuring characters from the film, including Simba, Rafiki, Timon and Zazu.

The big (and adorable) Simba Paw Cookie is a perfect summer treat and can be found at outdoor food carts throughout the park during the celebration.

Another themed must-try is the You Follow Old Rafiki Cheesecake! This dessert is a combination of passion fruit mango cheesecake with a coconut-lime crust, vanilla bean chantilly, and a chocolate medallion on top.

Rafiki’s Squash Banana shake with squash bananas, baobab fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, and cardamom is another must try this summer. Guests can find it at Tiffins Restaurant along with the Remember Who You Are “The Lion King” 30th Anniversary Dessert (above, right).

The Remember Who You Are at Tiffins Restaurant is Kenyan coffee mousse filled with caramelized bananas, chai chantilly, banana-caramel sauce, chocolate-coffee crumble, chocolate decoration, and a sugar sun.

The Simba at Eight Spoon Cafe is a mango-flavored slushy combined with grenadine and topped with two gummy candies. And Timon’s Luau is a unique dessert that pays homage to Timon’s iconic hula from the film.

Timon’s Luau - which can be found at Isle of Java in the park - features vanilla chiffon, passion fruit curd, guava jam, vanilla chantilly cream, and an edible tropical flower for the lei and mint for the hula skirt.

The Zazu Ice Cream Sandwich will likely be one of guests’ favorites all summer as well. Vanilla ice cream is sandwiched between two blue cake-coated sugar cookies with a chocolate medallion on top. Guests can find this treat at Tamu Tamu refreshments.

New ‘Lion King’ Merchandise Guests Will Want, ASAP

For the anniversary celebration, in addition to the Pumbaa popcorn bucket, there’s also a special merchandise collection. The new items and gear are perfect for a visit to our iconic “The Festival of the Lion King” show.

This special collection includes an amazing sweatshirt for adults with Simba silhouetted against the setting sun and “The Lion King” logo as well as a blue and white tie-dye youth zip hoodie. The colorful “Hakuna Matata” ear headband also celebrates 30 years.

Guests will also notice new items include a trendy f***y pack, a youth shirt and short set that features Simba, Nala, Pumbaa and Timon silhouetted on both and an adult yellow sweatshirt featuring favorite characters as well.

Guests can find these special items and more during the celebration at Island Mercantile in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

“The Festival of the Lion King,” which is a larger-than-life show based on the classic movie, has even more magic during the anniversary celebration with MagicBand+ this summer.

Guests’ MagicBand+ will come to life with dancing lights and haptic vibrations during key moments throughout the show.

Bring Home Disney Lookout Cay

June 8, 2024

After a wonderful visit to Disney Lookout Cay, guests have the chance to bring home a piece of The Bahamas to remember their one-of-a-kind vacation.

Guests should be sure to stop by Treasures of Eleuthera, a store that spotlights local artists with unique gifts and artisan crafts. Here, they can purchase original artwork by Bahamian artists to remember their experience at Disney Lookout Cay.

Disney T’ings offers a collection of clothing and accessories by Bahamian fashion designer Theodore Elyett, the same designer that created the tropical looks for Mickey and friends!

Island Flavors at Disney Lookout Cay

June 8, 2024

Hello from Eleuthera, The Bahamas! We’re exploring Disney Cruise Line’s newest island destination, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

After a day of adventure and entertainment, guests might start to get a little hungry.

When they’re ready for a tasty lunch, they can hop over to the shade of the beautiful dining pavilions, where they can enjoy the delicious flavors of The Bahamas with views of the beach. At True-True and True-True Too BBQ, the main dining areas, and Serenity Bay BBQ, the adult dining area, guests can sample menu items inspired by local recipes, including Bahamian pigeon peas and rice and Bahamian-style lime marinated grilled snapper.

If guests prefer more classic favorites, we’ve got them covered! Barbecue ribs, island spiced rotisserie chicken and grilled cheeseburgers are served alongside a wide variety of sides and freshly prepared salads.

There are also ice-cold drinks at four bars, from the main beach locales, Bow & Ribbon Bar, Watering Hole Bar and Reef & Wreck Bar, to the Blue Hole Bar for adults, to Sandsational Smoothies, which serves specialty frozen drinks. And if guests need a pick me up in the morning, Mangroves and Go should be their first stop for a tropical iced coffee.

The bars at Disney Lookout Cay serve a variety of locally sourced drinks, including Bahamas Goombay Punch soda, Bahamas Coffee Roasters coffee (locally roasted in Eleuthera) and Pirate Republic Brewing Company Long John Pineapple Pilsner.

The Disney Lookout Cay signature cocktail, Eleuthera Euphoria, is a blend of premium aged rum and pineapple smoothie, topped with pineapple-shaped candy.

After guests relax and enjoy their lunch and a tropical cocktail, the toughest choice is, where to next?

Sustainable Design and Wildlife Conservation at Disney Lookout Cay

June 8, 2024

Disney has long been committed to protecting the natural beauty of The Bahamas and has worked to have as little impact on the environment as possible throughout the design, construction, and operation of Disney Lookout Cay.

We’ve developed less than 16% of Disney Lookout Cay, leaving the overwhelming majority of land in its natural state. As guests explore the island destination, they can try to spot Disney’s sustainable design and building like elevated walkways and even an innovative, open-trestle pier.

Disney has also committed to sending zero waste to landfill, and 90% of the destination’s energy demand will be from renewable sources.

“Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is full of unique native animal and plant species, and I am proud of our conservation team who have been working for many years to help create this magical cruise destination where nature can continue to thrive,” said Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President, Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment.

“Disney Lookout Cay is another example of how Disney is taking meaningful and measurable action to protect nature and support a healthier planet for people and wildlife.”

Disney’s team of Bahamian on-site conservation experts continues to implement a variety of long-standing conservation initiatives like coral restoration projects, bird tagging programs, native plant preservation and more.

Disney Lookout Cay: It’s in the Details

June 8, 2024

We're continuing our deep dive of Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, starting with how it’ll immerse guests in the spirit of The Bahamas. From the minute guests first enter the welcome area at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Mabrika Cove, they’ll see a destination bursting with rich Bahamian culture.

Walt Disney Imagineering collaborated with local artists to reflect the essence of The Bahamas in the design and experiences at Disney Lookout Cay. Here, guests will find themselves surrounded by Bahamian nature and culture, with venues built to reflect the natural wonders and traditions of the chain of islands.

Who doesn’t love finding seashells on the beach? At Disney Lookout Cay, the dramatic structures are designed to resemble giant, colorful seashells scattered along Eleuthera’s coastline.

Bright, Bahamian-inspired art greets guests in the dining pavilions, bars and the Goombay Cultural Center, which might quickly become their favorite place at Disney Lookout Cay.

This brilliantly colored pavilion celebrates the rich history of The Bahamas and houses a wide range of programming, including the “Sights and Sounds of Junkanoo” family workshop, where local artisans will teach guests all about Junkanoo, the signature festival of The Bahamas filled with colorful parades, dancing and music.

As guests explore Disney Lookout Cay, they should look around for more local touches. Bahamian artists inspired and created beautiful art installations, which are on display throughout the destination.

Keep an eye out for these details:

A large sculpture created by Antonious Roberts located near the tram stop was constructed from a fallen tree that was found on Lighthouse Point property prior to construction.

Paintings by Kevin Cooper displayed in the Goombay Cultural Center and cabanas.

Nature-inspired sculptures created by ceramicist Imogene Walkine featured above the destination’s bars, along with Junkanoo-inspired tilework in locations such as the Goombay Cultural Center.

Plaited fish, pineapples, conch and Junkanoo headdresses by Philip and Michelle Kemp in the Goombay Cultural Center and cabanas.

Wood carvings on exterior doors inspired by Andret John’s original designs.

Original murals painted by Dorman Stubbs have been replicated and are featured on many buildings.

Land and sea-inspired art by interdisciplinary artist Kishan Munroe featured in the dining pavilions.

Sculptures by mixed media artist and painter, Edrin Symonette displayed throughout the destination.

There’s so much more to love about Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point! Stay tuned as we unveil new details for our newest island destination.
