Today was a solemn day on the Danube, with an optional visit to the Mauthausen Concentraton Camp Memorial, perched on a mountain top overlooking a valley and the swiss alps in the distance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauthausen_concentration_camp
I am grateful to our knowledgeable guide, who was personally taught by an survivor of this camp. His (non-jewish) grandmother was taken to Aushwitz as a political prisoner, and his close friend was also imprisoned. Tomorrow, officials will honor the liberation day of the camp, on May 2, 1945, .....79 years ago.

Until 1989, since 1950’s, the Iron Curtain ran through the middle of this forest. I am Standing in Bratislava which was under communism during those decades. Looking to the right is Austria , and straight ahead is Hungary. Below me is the Danube.

On the road again ! Flying to Budapest to board a river cruise on the Danube on the luxurious gourmet ( I hope! ) Riverside Mozart. This exact ship was my first River Cruise way back around 1997 when there were very few ships on the Rivers … and since then the Mozart has had 2 different owners, including Crystal, and it was renovated multiple times. I am excited about the different excursions coming up on this all inclusive journey .

Final Dinner.....> and then HOME....for one week only ~ Unpack, do wash, babysit, Passover dinner, repack.....then Board my flight to Budapest for another River Cruise with Riverside Luxury Cruises but this time on the Danube. Last trip for a while.....

Delta was giving $1000 to any volunteer willing to give up a seat on this overpacked flight. But I need to board the Avalon River cruise in the morning… and start my 2 weeks of river cruising and learning. Doing my usual counting the rows to the exit, and buckling up tight for turbulence. 7 hours and 45 minutes in the air once we get going . … hardly enough for a decent rest. Flying is not for sissies these days

Come Back TO KENYA WITH ME. Summer of 2025. I cant wait to go on Safari again...this time with a camera that does not break ...and this trip I will trek to the Gorillas in Uganda too. There is space left for about 8 more people. Overview in the flyer attached.

Keep on River Cruising....what do I have upcoming...wow. First in March....Avalon Waterways out of Amsterdam....then stay on Amadeus .....head to Antwerp with Tauck River Cruise...and then wrapping up on the Danube with the Riverside Mozart in April and May of 2024. Do you know your River Ships? There is more to choose from than just Viking....

The Brightline train is a great success! But....it did not take long for the first car crash.... A vehicle struck a Brightline Train Saturday afternoon in the area of West Hidden Valley Boulevard. That’s south of Linton Boulevard near the City of Boca Raton and City of Delray Beach line.

One person was in the vehicle and requested transport to an area hospital. Sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that it’s a man in his early 30s and he did not sustain serious injuries. It was not immediately clear what led to the crash.

It is not believed that any other person was in the vehicle. There are no reports of anyone on the Brightline Train sustaining injuries.https://www.wesh.com/article/brightline-orlando-ridership/46147954
