📚Join us for a journey into local history!

The Lawrence County Missouri Historical Society is hosting an event you won’t want to miss. On Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2:00 p.m., come to the beautiful Jones Memorial Chapel (east entry) in Mt. Vernon to hear the fascinating story of the restoration of the John Phariss Cemetery.

Barbara Brauch, along with Noralee Phariss Faulkner and a team of dedicated volunteers, took on the remarkable challenge of bringing this historic cemetery back to life. Overgrown brush was cleared, broken tombstones were repaired and cleaned, and a rich history was uncovered, resulting in the placement of a new historical marker honoring those buried there.

This is a rare opportunity to learn about local preservation efforts firsthand and gain insight into the lives of those who came before us. Don’t miss the chance to connect with our history and with others who share a passion for preserving it. Everyone is welcome—bring a friend and be part of keeping our community’s past alive!

News from Nobleberry!! They’re giving back this holiday season, and we applaud them! Why buy one cab when you can get a whole 24-pack?!?! That should last… 12 days, right???

This holiday season, we’re partnering with Isabel's House to give back. For every 12-pack or 24-pack of Nobleberry Premium Elderberry Soda purchased from drinknobleberry.com, we’re donating a can of Nobleberry to support families in need.

Join us in spreading kindness—one can at a time. ❤️ Elder Farms

🎄 Angel Tags Are Out! 🎄

Holiday Central has announced that Angel Tags are now available at local businesses (see original post for the full list)!

For those new to Mt. Vernon or who may not know, Holiday Central is a nonprofit organization run entirely by volunteers and funded by grants and generous donations. They work to bring joy to local kids who qualify for the school lunch program in the Mt. Vernon school district, ensuring that children in these households get a memorable and joyful Christmas.

How it works: families in need apply in October, providing children’s sizes and preferences so they receive clothes, toys, shoes, socks, and more—including wrapping paper and some other household necessities to help brighten their holiday.

✨ HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP! ✨
Stop by one of the local businesses with an Angel Tag display, choose a tag, and shop for a child in our community. Then, bring those purchases back to the business where you got the Angel Tag to be picked up by the HC volunteers. By participating, you’re helping to create a season filled with joy for children in need here in Mt. Vernon. Let’s come together to make this holiday season one to remember for all!❤️💚
