The Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary in Pacific Grove is a short walk from our lodgings at the Seascape Monterey Bay Knitting Retreat, and October is prime butterfly time.

We've included a free afternoon in the retreat schedule so you can explore some of the many activities and sights of the Monterey Peninsula. In mid-October, monarch butterflies begin their migration along the California coast, where thousands of them will overwinter in Pacific Grove.

If you can tear yourself away from the knitting, the fire pits, the hot tub, and the coastal walks, we highly recommend a visit to see the monarchs.

We've arranged a special opportunity for a limited number of retreaters to spend an extra day with us before our Monterey Bay Knitting Retreat.

On Thursday, October 9, we'll take a small group of you to explore the stunning landscapes of the Monterey Peninsula on a private mini-coach tour.

Our local guide will share hidden gems and local stories as we make our way through the most memorable areas of the peninsula, including historic Monterey, the rugged Pacific Grove coastline, world-renowned 17-Mile Drive, and the storybook village of Carmel-By-The-Sea.

Our tour includes plenty of photo opportunities, lunch at a charming village bistro, and a private chocolate tasting.
