A TALE OF TWO KINGS:

Why do Pizza King locations around the state vary so much? Well, in 1956, Indiana's first Pizza King was opened by brothers Wendell and Robert Swartz in Lafayette. Soon after, the brothers decided they wanted to take the growing business in different directions, so they split up the state and now two entirely separate companies operate using the Pizza King name in their own regions of Indiana.

The map above shows Wendell's territory in Red. That's where you'll find the famous Pizza King Guy logo and also some of the spots that deliver beverages via model train. In Yellow is Robert's slice of the state, where you'll find the unique "Ring the King" system that lets customers order via a phone at their table.

Furthermore, neither parent company runs their many locations with a traditional franchise model (where restaurant operations and appearance would be controlled by the larger corporation). Instead, each location is independently owned and operated, dealing with their parent companies through a unique "supply agreement" that has them purchase ingredients and supplies from the larger company without being under their control.

This means each Pizza King is truly a local business within its community and has a chance to set themselves apart from the rest. In Evansville, for example, Pizza King is known for their signature stromboli much more than their pizza.

We see you Chamber, diggin’ the new threads...

We are proud to announce our new brand. We have updated our logo and name. The Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce covers all of Delaware County. Empowering business and Building community. Our new website is coming soon, so stay tuned for further updates.

Logo Rationale for the "Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce"

The updated logo for the Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce combines elements of modern art deco and a clean, minimalist design. The circular logo symbolizes unity, continuity, and the interconnectedness of businesses and the community. The circle is versatile and timeless, conveying a sense of inclusivity and balance.

At the logo's center is a white letter, "M," composed of artistic straight lines. This represents the initial of "Muncie" and serves as a focal point, drawing attention to the city's name and identity. The straight lines within the "M" symbolize growth, progress, and innovation, reflecting the forward-thinking nature of the Chamber of Commerce and the local businesses it represents.

Surrounding the central "M" are four vibrant colors: orange, light orange, teal, and navy. These colors were chosen carefully to evoke specific emotions and associations. Orange is energetic and enthusiastic, representing creativity, while light orange adds a touch of warmth and friendliness. Teal symbolizes trust, stability, and growth, aligning with the Chamber's commitment to fostering a prosperous business environment. Navy conveys professionalism, reliability, and authority, highlighting the Chamber's role as a respected business organization.

The typography used for the text "Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce" is clean and contemporary, enhancing readability and conveying a sense of professionalism. The words are positioned around the circular shape, complementing the logo's overall composition. The tagline "Empowering business. Building community." is placed below the main text, emphasizing the Chamber's dual purpose of supporting local businesses and fostering a strong, connected community.

Overall, the updated Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce logo blends modern design aesthetics with art deco influences, creating a visually appealing and meaningful representation of the organization's mission. It portrays the Chamber as a dynamic and forward-looking entity, dedicated to empowering businesses and building a vibrant community in Muncie.
