Pictured Rocks Cruises offers two slightly different narrated tour routes for the enjoyment of our guests through the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

All cruises depart from Munising Bay and travel along the Pictured Rocks cliffs from Miner’s Castle to Chapel Rock. Spray Falls Cruises will continue up the shoreline to view the additional waterfall, Spray Falls, which is the only spring-fed waterfall along the Pictured Rocks cliffs that runs year-round.

The historic East Channel Lighthouse stands north of Munising Bay at the southern tip of Grand Island. You can get a close up view during your narrated Pictured Rocks Cruise. It was first constructed in 1868 as a guide for boats traveling in from Lake Superior to the east channel of Grand Island and safely into Munising Bay. Grand Portal is one of the most impressive features of the Pictured Rocks. A wide archway once opened into a cave so large that boats could pass through it, but the roof of the cavern collapsed in 1906. Gradual changes can be seen in the Grand Portal. Its huge arch formation continues to erode causing the sandstone to fill in the archway below.
