Our CEO Jami K. Averwater 👏

Murfreesboro City Council member and owner of Hywater Title Jami Averwater is running in the Republican Primary for the 13th District of the Tennessee House of Representatives seat against Robert Stevens.

“I will work to promote efficient government, keep taxes low, and improve public safety,” Averwater said. “My background in economics and as a business owner has proven to me that our economy is strongest when government interference is reduced, and taxes are low.”

Elected in 2022 to the Murfreesboro City Council, Jami has been a strong advocate for local businesses and crafted ordinances to protect small business owners. She has worked to fully fund public safety measures, improve the city’s infrastructure, and expand the park system. She also serves on the Murfreesboro Planning Commission.

“As an elected official, I am committed to being accessible and transparent. I have been extremely honored to serve the City of Murfreesboro on Council, and I am proud to have developed a reputation for being a fiscal conservative who opposes wasteful spending while promoting smart growth,” Averwater said.

Averwater is a lifelong Rutherford County resident and Middle Tennessee State University alumnus with a degree in Economics. Following MTSU, she received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Belmont University College of Law.

“As a small business owner, I understand firsthand how to make payroll and how excessive government interference hinders the growth of businesses,” Averwater said. “Decisions made at our state’s capitol affect each of my 15 employees and their families. I would like to serve the citizens of our community by promoting conservative economic principles and family values at the state level.”

Averwater is a member of the Alumni Board of The Webb School of Bell Buckle and former Advisory Board Member of Nurses for Newborns of Tennessee. While in college, she was the chairperson for the MTSU College Republicans, which at the time was the University’s largest political organization.

Averwater is engaged to be married in April to Alan Brown and is an active member of Experience Community Church in Murfreesboro.
