Because everybody should have some vintage Salty & Peppy wooden cat shakers with googly eyes.

I have redesigned & renamed the store header for Etsy. It's not open yet. It won't be for some time yet. We need to extinguish our eBay supply of listings before concentrating on putting up all the wonderful vintage items we have stockpiled. We feel Etsy customers have a deeper appreciation/understanding for vintage and we're really looking forward to getting going on the site. These are just a small representation of all the great stuff we'll have. Yes, we will have men's items too, as well as vintage collectibles.

just a teaser for future postings....anyone recognize this lamp? it's been in "the family" for decades...cord was about rotted out so we had it replaced....other than that, completely stock, just cleaned up and original bulb replaced with something more fun ;)

Hello folks...sorry this page has been dead for sooooooo long. Life has been in the way more times that I can count. I hope to post more in the near future because ultimately our goal is to downsize and eventually move and with all the vintage items I have, I would certainly love to find them good homes where they are appreciated and used, not just collected and/or sold for profit :)

It's been quite some time since we posted anything because it's been quite a ride the past year and a half - and much of the time all we could do was just hold on and hope.

At any rate, we'll be posting more interesting things as we find them. This is a Rival "Ice-O-Mat" machine. My grandparents had one of these and I recall being fascinated by it. I still remain easily amused :) I think it will go nicely with some of the vintage glassware we have.

Rival was founded by Henry J. Talge in 1932. Rival's first product was a manual citrus juicer, called the Juice-O-Mat. The "O-Mat" tag later become a trademark on many new product names, including the Can-O-Mat (can opener), Broil-O-Mat (broiler), and Ice-O-Mat (ice crusher).

Among Rival's many innovations was The Crock Pot. It made its debut at the National Housewares Show in Chicago in 1971, and it retailed for about $25.00.

Found the Shawnee mallard bookends/vases/planters the other day. They're pretty cool. I found them at the same place with the other planter. This mid century modern horse planter is a mystery as it is unmarked but it called to me nonetheless..."take me home with you 'cause I'm cool..." The glass barware pieces are also unmarked but the pieces are so cute decorated with different hats associated with lots of different careers/professions.

Found a 60s Margaret Smith tote today in the cheap-cheap bin in the thrift store. It's in pretty good shape given its age but I'm thinking of maybe doing a process on it to stiffen it and turn it into a magazine holder or something like that. I also picked up a 60s-70s resin-Lucite spoon rest. I think it might be Crystal Craft but it's unmarked.

Some finds from thrifting earlier today. W German - Gerzit - beer pilsner, an Italian company (WONY Ltd) vintage faux jade happy Buddha, and 2 mid-century Stetson China bowls. I can't help myself.

I've been going around the house and garage and packing things up here and there in anticipation of an eventual (gosh, we hope so!) move. I'll miss these Dura-Print Homer Laughlin (pattern is known as both Chanticleer and Break of Day) plates from the 50s until they're unpacked again...some day...in a new place...where I strive to be better organized.

Wow...haven't posted anything on this page in a long time. That doesn't mean I haven't been out looking & collecting. Here at work, they're starting their first consignment auction this evening so now I will get to see cool things that get brought to us. Here is an Oliver Typewriter #9 from 1912 that's going to auction. Who cares that some of the arms are wonky and it's got about a century's worth of time & grime settled on it? It's so industrial and so cool!

1950s Betty Barclay dress I got yesterday at the Ladies of Charity sale in downtown Nashville. So sweet with the inset panel of handmade cross stitched embroidery.

03/21/2014

Meow...what's new pussycat? Vintage 60s Italian designer cardigan jacket.

03/21/2014

Great looking vintage 70s maxi dress from Lanz...scooped up at 99 cent Wednesday.

11/09/2013

Found these the other day - vintage 1950s American Optical safety/cycle glasses with pivoting wire mesh side shields. I may find these hard to part with. So cool!

10/17/2013

Found this wonderful Nelly Don dress from the 50s the other day. I hadn't heard of Nelly Don but did some research. She had a fascinating story as one of the first and most successful self-made women millionaires in American business. She designed and sold more dresses in the 20th century than any other single person in the United States and she challenged the notion that women were best suited for domesticity. Google Nelly Don and read more if you're interested.

Found this the other day - it was like it was hanging there just waiting for me to come rescue it. This is vintage 70s Lilli Ann.

09/13/2013

Random stuff I've picked up at yard sales. Sometimes I just wing it and go with my gut because every so often I don't even know what I've picked until I come home and start researching.

08/17/2013

Vintage 1980s, Thierry Mugler, Paris designer black silk suit. To date, this is one of the nicest and most unexpected items I've found while thrifting.

08/04/2013

One other vintage find - this is a L'aiglon from the mid 1950s. The company was founded in 1919 in Philadelphia. During the 1950s, L’Aiglon dresses were used as costumes on the soap opera, "The Edge of Night".

08/04/2013

Another vintage find - this is a Rona New York from the late 60s-early 70s. Lurex metallic knit. Fabulous.

08/01/2013

Found this today while out thrifting. B H Wragge from the late 50s. It's funny - it's a 1950s size 10 which is about equal to maybe a 4 or 6 in today's sizes. But it's still pretty awesome.

07/19/2013

Picked this 1950s Krestline chrome all-in-one canister piece off the shelf at Goodwill the other week. Love it! She'll clean up nicely.

07/10/2013

This is a vintage early 70s Lillie Rubin maxi dress I found the other day in a Goodwill. Love it.

Proving for all time, that you NEVER KNOW what is on the other end of a Craigslist ad.

This is truly a laugh-out-loud read. My friends and I have totally related to and lived these experiences. Thank you, Kim Heinrich-Coltrane for sharing.

After the Victorian wardrobe salvage saga… After spending four hours in an unheated building. After ripping apart a wall with a toothpick. After loading and unloading a truck until nearly midnight… Paul told me to stop looking on Craigslist for a while. He said I had reached my quota. I nodded and p...

Sure have been missing going to yard/garage/estate sales - I have not been to a single one this season. What's the best thing you've ever found at a yard sale? I think mine was the 4 Fire King vintage jadeite mugs I found for 10 cents each. I count on people not knowing or not caring about what they're selling.

07/09/2013

Surprise - Reed & Barton Damscene pendant was inside

06/06/2013

No tag except for a paper one with an RN number - this is probably from the mid-late 1960s or early 70s.

05/31/2013

These patterns make me think of Katharine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, & the women of Mad Men

05/28/2013

Vintage ABCO chalkware pixie bookend. Maybe I'll employ him as my version of elf on the shelf this coming Christmas

05/17/2013

Found these really nice Manolo Blahniks the other day...sure wish I had smaller feet

05/05/2013

Another vintage find from the other day; mid-late 60s signed Zio Luigi - the Etsy stash is getting bigger.

05/05/2013

Found this while thrifting the other day; mid-late 60s Edith Flagg floral print maxi/hostess dress. It's going in my Etsy stash...I sure hope to have enough time to get my Etsy store up & running over the summer.

05/02/2013

Found this vintage 1950s cowboy ceiling light fixture at Goodwill the other day. The way I see them slam things around, I was amazed it made it to the floor in one piece. Even though it would be more work than it's worth to re-sell it, I'm thinking of keeping it and turning it into a clock. I think it's very retro-cool. That is all...back to slaving in the garage and uncovering things I have forgotten about :)
