TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE, just a few weeks away. Let’s talk some facts on this.

This is something remarkable we’re about to experience, truly a once in a lifetime experience for some.

Memories you will make with friends and family you won’t ever forget.

-The eclipse will occur on 4/8/24 and last from around 12:30 PM to a little after 3 PM here in Arkansas

-The entire state will observe the eclipse, but only some of our state is in the path of totality (important info there).

-Totality will only last around 15 minutes (in our state) from south to north.

Individual locations in the totality path will only observe 2-4 minutes of this.

-Temperatures will likely drop several degrees due to the sunlight block.

-Any present cloud cover could partially disperse due to the eclipse occurring.

-Relative humidity will likely increase due to the air temperature drop.

-Winds should decrease and calm during the eclipse due to a lack of solar radiation.

-During totality, we’ll turn to a dusk like darkness (in the middle of the day).

Our forecast for that day will slowly become available over the next two weeks.

**Only use ISO12312-2 certified eclipse glasses. If they aren’t certified, don’t use them**

Let’s talk about the total solar eclipse, which is one month from today.

This is a big deal, no living person in our state has observed one (in Arkansas).

It will be a long time before we see this again here in our state.

This is *NOT* just another eclipse like we’ve observed before. The moon will completely cover the sun (totality).

Much of our state will observe totality, some regions won’t, but you will still see the eclipse.

Totality areas will observe daylight to a dust like darkness in the middle of the day.

Let’s be honest, it’s probably going to be a mad house on April 8th.

I’m not saying this to scare you, but understand thousands and thousands of people will travel here.

Traffic congestion, hotels booked, major tourist influx like we usually wouldn’t observe, etc.

Workplaces are altering hours, schools are closing, etc.

The eclipse itself will last a few hours, but totality will occur from around 1:45 to 2:00 PM from south to north.

Localized areas will observe totality for around 2-4 minutes depending on their location.

You need certified eclipse glasses for this, I’m partnered with The Party Place in Fort Smith & Conway.

They have glasses you can purchase!

Start planning soon and consider adjusting your daily routine for 4-8-24.

It will not be a normal day for some, especially local areas that will observe the totality path.

Have you seen the giant beer can silo in Lavaca, Arkansas? The silo has been a giant beer can since the 1970s, when it was painted for a Budweiser commercial.

You will find it on the southeast corner of Highways 22 and 96. Believe it or not, this silo is in a dry county!

Personally, I'm not an alcohol drinker but I can certainly appreciate the detail on this silo.

"After the original owner died, his daughters ran the beer distributor business. They met artist Troy Freeman of Freesky Studios when he was painting a logo on their barn for Certified Angus Beef. Since the original paint on the silo required frequent touching up, they hired Troy in 2018 to redo the silo with a more durable paint. Troy obtained a beer can from the 1974-78 era, completely sandblasted the silo, and recreated the original to exact scale and specs." -Roadside America
