We recently added digital guides for each cabin to give guests as much information as possible about the cabin they're staying in, and the area around the cabins. In the second picture you can see the general categories including one to inform guests of things they might like to bring with them. The guides include information on places to eat, where to get groceries, fun activities for all and more. We invested in this technology to give our guests as great a visit as possible. When a guest books, the link to this guide is sent either via email or through the channel messaging where the cabin is booked. Don't forget that when you book directly through us you can save a lot on booking fees that are paid elsewhere. To book directly with us, go to www.parkercreekbendcabins.com

During our slow season (December through February) we offer great discounts on stays of 2 days or more when booked through us. Our short hike to Horton Cemetery. There are at least 8 graves, some with deceased having been born in the mid 1800s to early 1900s. The one marker that had identification on it, Thomas Treat is the great, great uncle to Darrell Treat who is the director for the Searcy County Chamber of Commerce.

One of the things I like sharing with guests at our cabins is activities to enjoy nearby........and good places to eat too. This past Saturday (November 2, 2024) I, my youngest brother Ryan and his family hiked the Old Railroad Trail in Gilbert, Arkansas which is a little north of Marshall Arkansas off U.S. Highway 65. Gilbert was established as a town after a railroad building camp was set up in 1902 at that location. While the ties, rails and bridges are gone, the remnants such as bridge piers and the path remain. This was originally the Missouri and North Arkansas Railroad, and it ceased operation in 1946. The trail which is listed on the AllTrails app is a 3.8 mile out and back hike that goes from Gilbert to the Buffalo River where the concrete railroad bridge piers are. This is a very easy and quick hike that parallels the Buffalo River so it is quite scenic. We now provide a digital guide in addition to our printed welcome guide that gives an amazing amount of information about the cabin you stay in, activities in the area, restaurants, operational guides for appliances and much more. When you book you receive an email with the link to the digital guide. I want each guest to get the maximum enjoyment when you stay at our cabins. You could visit multiple times and still not take in all the available activities in either Marshall or Murfreesboro Arkansas.

See my other post about our hike to the abandoned Horton cemetery.

According to the Ozark Mountain Regional Water Authority, around 7:45 p.m. Thursday night, a mechanical failure resulted in a pipe breaking at a pump station near Lead Hill, Arkansas.

Crews are still investigating the cause of the mechanical failure and hope to have water restored to the water systems the company serves in two to three days.

The company has not issued a boil order for residents, but the systems it provides water to might issue boil orders themselves. The company serves 16 water systems.

Here are the affected systems: Deer Community Water Association, East Newton County Water Association, town of Jasper, town of Leslie, Mount Sherman Water Association, Morning Star Water Association, Mockingbird Hill Water Association, city of Marshall, towns of Nail/Swain, Parthenon Water Association, SDM Water Association, SP&G Water Association, South Mountain Water Association, and the town of Valley Springs.

Officials with Ozark Mountain Water Association say several repairs will need to be made at the pump station.

Several Arkansas residents are being asked to conserve water due to a pipe failure at a booster pump in Arkansas.

These are updated photos after finishing the details necessary to get our newest cabin, The Timber, ready to book.

Since this is a log cabin, it seemed appropriate to name it after our Beagle boys' daddy Timber (CT MACH5 Hare-Raiser Thousand Acre Plans VCD3 RE FDC MXB2 MJG2 XF T2B CAA SWE SCAE SINE SBNE SEM SBM RATCH CGCA TKA ATT FITG) who passed in January at almost 17 years of age. Timber garnered many titles in AKC, USDAA and others in his lifetime of competitions.

Eventually the cabin will have some photos honoring Timber.
