Hello!
We just wanted to give everybody an update on Joy in Carolina. As many of you unfortunately know, a pipe burst the very first day of the season. Surfside Realty helped the poor family that was renting it for that week find a new house, and it turned out every family had to be moved.
The amount of damage didn’t look to be that much at first, but the more we looked, it looked like almost the entire first floor had to be renovated, as well as the plumbing for the entire house!
Everybody tried to give as much notice as possible , but promised dates from contractors kept slipping, and as soon as surface and is saw dates slipping we we tried to reach out ASAP. Eventually we had to switch contractors, but the damage of the delays was done =[
After we knew the season was lost we decided to do extensive work in making the house better. Most of these upgrades cannot be seen, but we hope will keep the house current and more enjoyable for us and you. Some examples of that is all new insulation, new sealing from the elements, brand new plumbing for the entire house, etc.
Some minor but pleasant additions are, popcornless ceilings in the living room and kitchen, new cabinets, under counter lighting, recessed hi hats, new wide plank floor on the entire first floor, etc.
After knowing the season and our rental family couldn’t enjoy the house, our choose to do these other updates uncovered other insane delays, too.
Our home is almost complete, and we will probably post pics before the new year, but rest assured, if you want to stay at our beloved home next season, barring some crazy unforeseen unrelated disaster, you will be able to do so!
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we scrambled during the 2024 season to do everything we could to avoid families having to change plans or stay elsewhere. We sincerely hope you and our extended families have a safe and happy Thanksgiving !! 🦃
