We 🩷 this post from Miss Michigan!

🎉✨ And…tonight’s the night!

Join us in cheering on Jenae Lodewyk as she takes the stage at the Miss America Competition tonight!

We are so proud of her accomplishments and honored that the Miss Michigan Pageant is held right here in Muskegon every year.

This image of her standing in front of the Miss America mural in Muskegon and her emotional connection with it is heartwarming.

Did you know Nancy Ann Flemming, from Muskegon County, won the crown in 1961?
We believe this mural may be a commemerattion of her hometown’s pride.

Could this be the year we welcome another?

🌟 Watch the Finals LIVE on YouTube and PageantVision.com tonight at 7pm and show your support for our Miss Michigan in the comments below.

We wish her the very best and a wonderful experience! 🩵

The morning after I was crowned Miss Michigan, I met Miss America.

That morning I had finished my state board of directors meeting in Muskegon, hugged my family goodbye, and was about to drive myself back to Detroit. As a precaution, I decided to top off my gas before getting on the road and pulled into a random gas station. As I was leaving, There She Was…Miss America.

On the side of a building, a faded mosaic of a brunette with her sash, crown, cape, trophy, and swimsuit congratulated me. If I hadn’t turned my head at the last minute I would’ve missed her - I couldn’t get over how serendipitous it was. I immediately thought of our Miss America 1961 Nancy Fleming (native of Montague, won Miss Michigan as Miss White Lake). But in that moment, it felt like the universe was saying congratulations to the new Miss Michigan.

I went back to see her recently during a weekend as Miss Michigan in Muskegon. I wish I could’ve seen the mosaic in it’s glory. I can only imagine what an honor it is to be preserved in your hometown as art.

I’m thinking of her now, the night before I compete for Miss America. I cannot wait to see who our Miss America 2025 will be soon. 💛
