Meet Amelia Rose Earhart! She's the keynote speaker of our 2024 Ignite Women's Conference presented by Tidelands Health.
In 2014, she followed in the steps of her namesake - Amelia Mary Earhart - and made history as the youngest woman to pilot single-engine Pilatus PC-12NG aircraft worldwide. She was 31 at the time, when she traveled 28,000 nautical miles over 18 days.
On Oct. 4, she'll join us in Myrtle Beach to share her story and lessons she learned to help you take on the "pilot in command" mentality in your own lives.

Congratulations to Eastern Carolina Housing Organization for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate their veteran housing project, NardMoor.
The facility has 40 beds for veterans and serves as bridge housing, helping veterans experiencing homelessness get stabilized and into permanent housing.
Contributions by Al and Terri Nardlisco made the housing facility possible and the project is named in their honor with the combining the names Nardlisco and Moore.
The veterans are provided three meals a day, along with counseling services and assistance in obtaining public and VA benefits and connecting to community resources. Since it's inception, they've helped more than 500 veterans.

Palmetto Literacy Council celebrated their fifth anniversary this week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony! Please help us congratulate the nonprofit on this milestone! During the ceremony, executive director Dr. Dodi Hodges announced they'll be moving to a new office on Cannon Road in Myrtle Beach as they've outgrown their current space. Palmetto Literacy Council provides 1-to-1 mentoring with children and adults in Horry County providing tutoring for reading, writing and math. Those services are provided for free and are made possible with volunteer support. Currently there's about 40 people on the waitlist - so if you're looking for ways to volunteer in the community, please check them out!
The Educated Voices On Leading and Valuing Equity (EVOLVE) Series will discuss topics related to creating more equitable workplaces, leveraging team member’s unique traits and inclusive hiring methods. Participants are eligible to receive two SHRM credits through the Society of Human Resource Management for each session completed. All sessions will be led by Dr. Franklin Ellis, an associate dean and director of the Center for Inclusive Communities at Furman University in Greenville, S.C. The EVOLVE Series costs $50 per person and includes registration to all four sessions which will be held in the chamber boardroom. Individual session registration is not available. The classes will be held on April 10, June 6, Sept. 21 and Nov. 21 and will run from 9-11 a.m., with the exception of the Nov. 21 session which will run from 9 a.m. to noon. https://bit.ly/3VHGUC9

STAR Academy recently celebrated two years in business. We got to spend some time with owner Joanne to learn more about the sensory-friendly, indoor playground. Located at 647 Main Street in North Myrtle Beach, STAR Academy is meant to be a place where all kids can be stars. Inside there's play areas and space to craft or play board games and puzzles.
