Slide into excitement with our giant water slide, engage in friendly competition with tug-of-war, rubber duck race, kayak regatta, corn hole tournament and cool off with a water gun and balloon war. Savor the flavors of summer with a delicious lobster roll or other tasty treat from our featured food truck: Linda Bean's Maine Lobster (on-site from 10 am - 5 pm)

As the sun sets help us celebrate National Hawaii Day. Immerse yourself in our Adventure Luau, complete with an authentic Polynesian buffet dinner, captivating dances and fire-knife performances. Cap off the night with a dazzling fireworks display that lights up the island sky.

Escape the crowds at the beach and enjoy this EXCLUSIVE event that is limited to ONLY 200 guests. Don’t miss this unforgettable family adventure at River Island!

Adults:$54 (ages 16 & up)

TIMELINE OF EVENTS

10 am - 5 pm: Water Slide
Enjoy unlimited slides down a 28 ft tall x 80 ft long inflatable water slide
Cost: Included in price of admission

10 am - 5 pm: Linda Bean's Maine Lobster Food Truck
Enjoy some world famous lobster rolls, clam chowder, lobster bisque, red snapper hot dogs, toasted lobster grilled cheese, blueberry pie and more.
Cost: Prices vary, menu is a la carte

11 am - 1 pm: Red, White & Blue Kayak Regatta
Bring your own kayak or rent one from us to join our regatta down the river, around the private island and back to the finish line. Prizes for most patriotic costume, fastest paddler & more!
Cost: Included in price of admission (kayak rental: $10/kayak)

1:00 pm - 9:00 pm: Luau Bar
Our Luau Bar will be selling ice cold beer, sodas and delicious wine slushees

2 pm: Rubber Duck Race
Pick your lucky duck(s) and cheer them on. The owners of the first several ducks that cross the finish line will win a River Island t-shirt and more!
Cost: $3 per duck

2:30 pm: Watermelon Eating Contest
Signup early to compete in this fun and messy contest. The first person to eat their share of watermelon (no hands) wins!
Cost: Included in cost of admission

3 pm - 4 pm: WATER BALL: Water Gun & Balloon Game
BRING YOUR BIGGEST WATER GUNS for this wet and wild game! Teams must try to get a beach ball from the center of the playing field into the opposing teams goal using only their water guns. If a player touches the ball with their hands or feet, the other team gets the ball at the sideline. Three players armed with water balloons are the last defense to stop the ball from going in the goal.
Cost: Included in the cost of admission

4 pm - 5 pm: Tug of War Tournament
Families/Groups of 6 - 8 compete in an old school Tug of War competition for prizes. Divisions: Men, Women, Mixed, Kids
Cost: Included in cost of admission

5 pm - 7 pm: Co****le Tournament
Grab your partner and let the bags fly for this double elimination tournament. The winning team will win a FREE NIGHT in one of our Glamping Tents.
Cost: $10 per team of two

7 pm - 9 pm: Adventure Luau & Dinner Buffet
The highlight of the day: an authentic Polynesian Luau with hula dancers, fire-knife performances, live music and amazing dinner buffet.
Cost: Included in cost of admission

9 pm - 9:30 pm: Fireworks
At the conclusion of the luau stay in your seats for a fireworks show lighting up the night sky high above the tranquil waters of the Waccamaw River.
Cost: Included in the cost of admission

Sea turtles are nesting, so please remember to fill the holes you dug when you leave the beach!

I know many who come to the beach want to have a good time and don’t think about filling in the holes or leaving trash around. But it is turtle nesting season. This hole and others were found this morning in Garden City. Here are some tips from our friends at S.C.U.TE. that will help you and the turtles.

1. When you leave the beach each evening, take your belongings and trash with you. Balloons and plastics are particularly dangerous because they look like turtles’ favorite food – jellyfish — when floating in the water. And please take down your shelters, beach chairs and tents as they present an entanglement danger to the turtles, and they can create obstructions which frighten the mothers and cause them to leave the beach without laying their eggs.

2. Please fill in your holes so that neither turtles nor people fall in them or over them overnight.

3. Lights out, please. It is VERY important to have a dark beach for the turtles to come ashore and lay their eggs. Artificial lighting (flashlights, glow sticks, and camera flashes) disorients the babies and discourages the mothers. After dark, please turn off outdoor lighting and shut curtains or blinds where indoor lighting can be seen from the beach. And do not use flashlights on the beach at night. They are just as detrimental as a floodlight.

4. Do Not Disturb! If you see a turtle nesting, please respect her needs and leave her alone to take care of Nature’s work. It’s okay to watch quietly from a distance, but do not take pictures or shine lights in her direction, and certainly do not disturb the nest in any way. Disturbing any sea turtle, its nest or its eggs is punishable under Federal law and carries large fines and possible jail sentencing.

If you see a turtle on the beach, leave it alone! If it is injured or somehow in distress, call this number, 800-922-5431, and record the nature of the problem and the location of the turtle.
