Anyone want to go for a walk?

Looking for a great place to walk or run this summer? Check out the trail around Myrtle Beach’s Grand Park in the Market Common! This park-and-walk trail is perfect for an easy stroll, or intense workout. The trail listed below is calculated to be a three mile fitness trail, starting from the bridge across from Valor Memorial Garden. Here are the easy-to-follow directions:

- Start west on Farrow Parkway towards 810 Billiards and Bowling.
- Turn left on Meyers Avenue.
- Continue east, then turn left onto Pampas Drive.
- Continue down Pampas Drive, then turn left onto Farrow Parkway.

This trail has public water fountains, bathrooms and outdoor fitness equipment around Grand Park Lake. There are multiple shaded areas with benches to sit and rest if needed. Stop by this summer and enjoy the beauty of Myrtle Beach!

Look what was spotted in Murrells Inlet near the New Neptune restaurant Friday. A manatee! Cool shot Tylar Miller! FYI - Manatees are not that uncommon along the South Carolina coast.

People often ask for less than a week during the summer but we typically have to rent by the week or we lose money. I made a mistake though and left 6 nights sitting empty starting on June 24th so now's your chance! Message me for rates.

Did you know that Native Americans first called the Grand Strand the “Land of Chicora?” It was home to the Waccamaw, Chicora, Winyaw, Santee, Edisto, Catawba, P*e Dee, Cheraw, Chickasaw, Lower Eastern Cherokee and Beaver Creek Native Americans. The indigenous peoples’ descendants live on in our community today, as do many of the place names.

Myrtle Beach’s Winter Wonderland returns Thursday, November 17, and runs through Friday, December 23, on the Boardwalk! The second annual event features a true “Christmas at the Beach” feel with Santa Claus along the oceanfront, a place to make real snow angels, holiday-themed inflatables and more.

The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk will host the lights festival this year, and it will be free for everyone to enjoy. Holiday-themed lights will brighten the Boardwalk, with Santa Claus in town for photo opportunities on Saturday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ninth Avenue North beach access. While walking the Boardwalk under the lights, you’ll enjoy the Atlantic Ocean on one side with the Family Fun Zone on the other, between the Boardwalk and Ocean Boulevard.

The Family Fun Zone will be on the sand volleyball courts and adjoining grassy area. The fun zone will feature a Snowzilla Snow Slide, World’s Largest Bouncy Snowman, a Tobaggan Tunnel Roller Sledding ride, street curling lanes, Marshmallow Beach and more! The rides and inflatables will be rotated so families can come back to enjoy the festival again, with new attractions in the fun zone. The Family Fun Zone will be ticketed, with unlimited admission priced at $5 a wristband, or $1 per ticket.

Holiday entertainment is planned Thursday through Sunday evenings, excluding Thanksgiving Day, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Plyler Park. Carolers will be roaming the Winter Wonderland at the Beach lights festival and family fun zone from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. as well. Plyler Park will be the site to visit for the Holiday Market during the evenings.

Alas, the ice skating rink will not return this year. Ice skating was popular last year, but ultimately not practical. It was too difficult to keep a sheet of ice in skating condition with temperatures in the 70s most days. We just don’t get enough cold weather in Myrtle Beach for outdoor ice skating.

Grab your blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy holiday movies on Fridays from November 18 through December 23, at Nance Plaza. Check back closer to Winter Wonderland’s kick-off for details on story nights from Chapin Memorial Library. And that’s not all! Visit https://www.winterwonderlandatthebeach.com/ for the full rundown of holiday-inspired events!
