🌍✨ Happy Earth Day from Seaside Shadows! ✨🌍

As we guide you through haunted streets, historic graveyards, and forgotten corners of New England and beyond, we’re constantly reminded that the earth holds more than just history—it holds memories, energies, and echoes of those who came before us.

On this Earth Day, we honor the land beneath our feet—the soil that has witnessed centuries, the stones that mark forgotten lives, and the forests and shores that whisper stories in the wind.

Let’s continue to preserve not only the environment, but the history and spirits tied to it. 🌿👻

💡 Sustainable tourism. Respectful storytelling. Haunted preservation.

Today, we extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Pope Francis. As the world reflects on his legacy, we honor the centuries of tradition surrounding the papacy and its powerful role in shaping history, faith, and culture.

From sacred relics to canonized saints and centuries of spiritual devotion, the Vatican has long stood as a symbol of both reverence and mystery.

Seaside Shadows founder Courtney McInvale is a proud graduate of The Catholic University of America, and today, we join the global community in mourning the loss of a deeply influential spiritual leader.

May he rest in peace—and may his spirit join the long line of those who have shaped history from both this world and beyond.

🌸 Ostara, the Spring Equinox & the Rabbit-Egg Tale 🐰🥚

Long before chocolate bunnies and egg hunts, spring was celebrated through ancient festivals of renewal and rebirth — including Ostara, a pagan sabbat marking the Spring Equinox. 🌼

According to legend, the goddess Ēostre (or Ostara) found a bird injured in winter. To save it, she transformed it into a hare — but the hare retained its ability to lay eggs. As a gift to the goddess, the hare would decorate its eggs and leave them as offerings. 💫

These sacred symbols of fertility and new beginnings were later woven into Christian Easter traditions — where the hare became the Easter Bunny, and the brightly colored eggs remain a beloved part of spring ritual. 🌷

As we celebrate the season of light returning, may we honor both ancient magic and modern meaning.

✨ Happy Ostara. Happy Easter. And as always... beware the spirits that wander into the springtime warmth. 👻

“One if by land, two if by sea…”
250 years ago tonight, lanterns lit the steeple of the Old North Church, warning of the British approach and setting history in motion. Paul Revere’s midnight ride—echoing hooves on cobblestone—still reverberates through the haunted streets of New England.

At Seaside Shadows, we honor not only the spectral remnants of the past, but the brave souls who forged our nation. As darkness falls tomorrow night, we join the campaign to illuminate our windows with two lights—one for freedom, one for remembrance.

Join us in shining light on Revolutionary spirits—and maybe even catching a glimpse of one.

🚢 April 15, 1912 – The Unsinkable Lost to the Sea 🌊

Today marks the anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic—one of history’s most tragic maritime disasters. As the great ship disappeared beneath the frigid Atlantic, over 1,500 lives were lost… but their stories continue to haunt the waves.

New England—especially Connecticut and Rhode Island—has deep ties to the Titanic:

🔹 Helen Churchill Candee of CT survived the disaster and later told her story.
🔹 John Jacob Astor IV, who perished, summered in Newport, RI—where some say his spirit still lingers.
🔹 Survivors made their homes in New England, where local landmarks still honor their memory.

Earlier this year, our founder Courtney and her husband Marty visited their first Titanic exhibit in Las Vegas. They stood in awe before The Big Piece—a massive section of the ship’s recovered hull—and viewed haunting artifacts that brought the tragedy to life.

From haunted shorelines to history's shadows, Seaside Shadows remembers those who were lost—and those who may never have left.

⚓ Have you visited a Titanic exhibit or a site with ties to the ship? Share your experience below.

🃏👻 The Origins of April Fools' Day — Trickery Through Time 👻🃏

Long before prank calls and whoopee cushions, tales of April Fools' Day stretch back centuries — and like many of our favorite haunted stories, its true origin is shrouded in mystery.

Some say it dates to 16th century France when the switch from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar moved New Year’s Day from April 1st to January 1st. Those who failed to get the memo and still celebrated in spring were mocked as “April Fools.”

Others tie the tradition to ancient Roman festival Hilaria, where people would don disguises and play tricks in celebration of the goddess Cybele — a day of misrule, much like our haunted nights.

Whether born from calendar confusion, pagan roots, or cultural mischief — April Fools' Day reminds us that not all tricksters are living… and not every prankster is caught. 👀

So tonight, keep your eyes open — and maybe leave a light on. Some spirits just love a good joke.

📅 Happy National Mom and Pop Business Day!
Today, we’re shining a lantern-light on the heart behind Seaside Shadows—our founders, Courtney and Marty Reardon. 💛

Seaside Shadows Haunted History Tours was founded in 2013 by Courtney McInvale Reardon—a historian, author, and lifelong paranormal experiencer. After years of spiritual encounters and a deep passion for uncovering the mysteries of New England’s past, Courtney created Seaside Shadows to share true stories of haunted history by lantern light.

Each tour blends real historical research with local legend, honoring the lives and events that shaped the places we call home. Preserving and sharing these stories with respect is at the core of our mission—and we’re proud to keep that spirit alive in every step we take.

Behind the scenes, her husband Marty assists to keep everything running smoothly. From operations to logistics, he’s Courtney's grounding force who helps make the magic happen, even if you won’t catch him on the tour path. Together, this mom and pop team has grown Seaside Shadows from a single tour to a regional experience across New England and the South.

We’re proud to be family-owned, locally rooted, and forever grateful to our guests for supporting small business and storytelling with soul. 🖤

Captured in night mode under the full moon during one of our recent graveyard tours, this chilling image has left us all unsettled. A guest submitted the photo and circled the strange figure in question. At first, we assumed it was a fellow guest or one of our guides… but the shape doesn’t match anyone present.

When zoomed in, the figure appears featureless—except for a faint, pale white face emerging from the shadows, cloaked in what looks like black clothing. No facial details. No visible movement. Just a still, human-like form standing where no one should have been.

We confirmed every person on the tour that night—this figure doesn’t belong. A trick of night vision… or something far more unexplainable?

Thank you to Claire for capturing and sharing this eerie moment.
What do you see?
