Always plenty of surprises. Never assume you’ll just replace deck boards 😆 Almost no blocking anywhere even at the frame. Single maybe half inch bolts on every post. Half to three quarter inch gaps at the end of most joists. Knew we needed to add joists anyway to support composite and should have just assumed it would basically be a rebuild. Have to raise the surface a half inch anyway since we’re replacing 2x6 with ~1” composite boards to stay lined up with the top of the pool frame. Was hoping I could sister and add in between but think I’ll just redo all the joists from scratch 😳 Excited for this transformation and doing lots of research to find the coolest composite possible for the decking.
