Amazing!!

January 27, 2024, moving of the oceanfront cottage at 22025 Sea Gull St., Rodanthe, NC continues. This morning they repositioned roll beams to move the cottage about 45 more feet to the west. 100+ ft total in two days. They then repositioned the rollers once more and moved the house two more feet to the north. Industrial rollers were used instead of Ivory soap today, as their was to much moisture in the air. The home is now sitting on its surveyed spot, on higher ground safe from ocean overwash, where it will hopefully sit for many years to come. A berm system was built on the east side of house to keep the construction site safe.

Overton Contracting, LLC and H & H Land Developers, removed the old septic tanks, the old house pilings, all of the new pilings from the temporary shoring foundation put in place and the rest of the old cement from the driveway. The whole coastline is completely clean. The cottage is tied down snug for the upcoming high winds the next few days. Once the weather subsides, Overton Contracting will return to get the home ready for the next phase and Expert House Movers will return to elevate the home 16 feet. Then the new pilings will be put in and together they will work to place the house down safely to its new foundation. Once it is on the foundation, banding, hurricane straps and bolts will be inserted and it will be immediately safe and secure. The remodel will then begin with new decks, stairways will be erected, electricity and plumbing and everything will be brought up to code. This can be a costly process and is hard to gauge an exact cost, as each house has different variables.

Albermarle & Associates, LTD were responsible for deciding where this house was going to be moved to and filing all the permits that were necessary to get it there; CAMA permit, Health Dept permits, shoring engineering, structural engineering and site planning.
