You know those great photos of the water & beaches you see in Travel Brochures & sites for Cancun & surrounding areas? Well, for the most part those photos are not taken during the spring season... because during this time of year, the beaches are continually fighting a battle w/ giant blobs of seaweed.

Since 2011, a fleet of seaweed patches double the size of the contiguous U.S. has cycled from West Africa to Florida, threatening beaches from Martinique to Miami. This year, it could grow bigger.

In some cities, AirB&B's are being shut down (or at least making it very difficult to rent) and in other cities, there is a glut of AirB&B's, causing folks to sell off their rentals (but for a moment, renting at lower prices).

Hotel owners and unions wants to squash competition from the average Joes and Janes trying to drum up a bit of cash.

If you or anyone you know has ever taken advantage of a "mistake fare", the airlines are now going to crack down on those.

United Airlines will no longer honor any mistake fares. Also, you could face a lifetime ban with the airline if you purposely book delayed flights with United.

With all the issues with air travel right now...

𝟭𝟬 𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗚𝗘𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨'𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗟𝗬𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥

1. Consider driving if it’s 5 hrs or less
2. Always have the airline’s app downloaded BEFORE you fly
3. Fly early! It’s a domino effect with flights – the later you travel, the more likely your flight is to be delayed and to miss a connection or to cancel.
4. Choose a non-stop over a connecting flight – your luggage is more apt to make it too
5. FYI: When flight crews get delayed, they time out. Crews can not fly longer than 16 hours in one stretch. With little or no back up crews, when this happens your flight cancels. (This is why those morning flights are best)
6. Don’t connect in Newark – or any New York airport.
7. Be nice. The overworked and tired flight crew can’t manage too many ‘not nice’ people and remember – some of them have power you need on your side.
8. Get trip insurance if you’ve invested serious (or perhaps not so serious) money on your trip. Consider this especially for international trips where the flight options are more limited than domestic USA flights.
9. Flights are full. If your flight is missed there may not be room on the next flight for you and yours. If this happens consider alt options like trains or busses or car rentals.
10. Pack your patience!
