If you need a little local walk, Alston Park on the Northwest side of the city of Napa is easy and pretty. If you're traveling with a dog, there is a dog park and half of the trails are dog friendly.

Autumn is in full glory.

Fall Harvest is coming to an end.

Grapes are picked. Many wineries are pressing off the last of the juice from the skins and putting the wine into barrel for the next much quieter, steady phase of winemaking.

Olive trees have been mostly harvested for olive oil. Trees have been shaken over the last few weeks, and the presses have been active making that delightful golden liquid.

The valley has a busy upcoming holiday weekend, and then the quiet starts to settle as we move toward the holidays with family and friends.

I love living in an agricultural community where the seasons lead our annual rhythms.

If you're staying in the town of Sonoma and want a couple mile hike with sweeping views above the town, Sonoma Overlook Trail is perfect.

We could see all the way to San Francisco this morning, and the pops of Fall color made the vista especially brilliant, but it is beautiful any time of year.
