So, I just received this notice from The City of Naples. I would like to preface my comment by saying that I am all for oyster, grass and mangrove restoration. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems that the way these folks are going about restoring oyster beds is counterintuitive! If the idea of destroying one of the few existing natural oyster beds in Naples Bay (like they did at the last site) as part of an oyster “restoration” project, makes your blood boil, then now is the time to say speak up. Wouldn’t it make more sense to build new beds instead of trashing the old preexisting beds? Isn’t it about time the watermen of this county had a say?
