It is with great sadness that we relay to our longtime Island Sailing customers that Captain Marlena Brackebusch lost her battle with ovarian cancer. She passed away peacefully with family by her side. Her love of family, friends, sailing, and adventure will always live on. She was also an accomplished author who loved to write. Captain Marlena was the original founder and owner of Island Sailing just over 20 years ago and she was one of the original few female charter boat captains in the area. She left behind her long time partner Toby, numerous beloved family members, and countless friends. She will be missed deeply.
